I heard their build quality sucks, if true i would say not worth their retail price.

I listened to 2 them twice first time at staples at a display and the bass just floored me..I listened to em again at brookstones and they sounded average Idk what kind of set up they had behind the displays but the same 2 headphones had totally different bass

the beats sound muddy to me but they have the strongest bass ive ever heard..my ears hurt after listing to them

I have the 780's and personally think they are just OK and I dont like the highs or comfort. I prefer m50's to them. if you want a big upgrade go for d2000's.

akg k240's studios are very flat and neutral and sound great they have been very popular studio headphones for a very long time. Only $93 on amazon right now.

M50's are great. I read all the reviews and got a pair and they sound amazing. OP please list a headphone that can directly compete with the m50's at the price range. the price on amazon dips as low as 115 brand new currently 135 .

M50's are amazing for around $100, not overrated at all. But if you want the best for around 200 then a used pair of Denon D2000's actually the D2000's are 1 of the best closed headphones of any price range. Also the beyerdynamic DT770 are worth a listen and come in a version for no amp Ipod use...

I recommend you buy Audio Technica M50's you can find them used for under 100, These are better than anything on your list.
