The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

It's a small combo SMSL VA2 amplifier wchich was modded to sound even more powerful on input 1, custom external PSU < Supra dual rca inreconnect < Audiotrak dr. dac2. also modded almost everything was possible. K712 are twice the price, sure, but were they worth it? What was stopping me from...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Got a pair of K712 Pro used for a good price. I was skeptical to be honest as a K612 Pro owner, but now I must say K712 are a step above K612 in expressiveness, soundstage detail, although narower/closer than K612. Polished deep sound is what was my initial impression, I felt as K712 gave their...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

A tube amp should be an expensive one then, tried K612  with a Littledot mk-III and was not impressed, instrument separation seemed good, though. But to be honest I don't like the somewhat dark/heavy sound from a tube amp, I like airy sound and K612 has it, maybe I should try burn-in, as a last...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I got a pair of K612 the other day. Made in China.   I would describe them as studio headphones for critical listening, they sound amazing, yes, but they are not musical in my opinion. I was amazed at the sounds, but at the same time I was missing the emotional part.   K612 have a liquid...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

AKG K702 are hard to drive in which case they can sound "lite". I'd say even harder to drive than the 600Ohm AKG 240DF. Generally the old 240DF are better sounding in my opinion. It is not a truth that came to me right away.

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I love mine a lot. Recently have been sent back for repair, but I hope to get them back soon.   In the meantime AKG 204DFs are my cans of choice, these two pairs are ideal for what I listen to.   When I heard ER4S back in 2003 I was pleasantly shocked, there was no other headphone that could...

Review: Fischer Audio FA-003 - a neutral champ!

Nice to see people are so much enjoying these headphones, no bad opinions as far as I saw.   My question to you guys is how do these compare to the Sennheiser HD25-1 II, because I had them for a while and that would bring me some reference, are FA003s better, worse, in what aspects? I am...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

Quote:   I don't know exactly the benchmark numbers. probably numbers like an E-MU1212m has, that card is a Hi-Fi DAC, but with a narrow soundstage. To me Hi-Fi creates a believable image, High Stereo Effect, or whatever. We know Sansa Clip sounds good right? But that is with average...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

Quote: I guess I'm just jealous, or maybe pissed cause we need a cheap and High fidelity DAP, I guess some chinese manufacturers are greedy too.     I can audition the X3 in a month, but I'm not sure I will be amazed with it, like I was with E11 at $50, and now X3 is $230. Most reviews...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

Quote:   I didn't say I was certain of anything. I just believe that HiFiMan is ripping people off because they think have no competition. They buy people with high technology, double DACs and stuff like switchable amps, only to make people believe/placebo  that this is the ultmate...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

There was a review on head-fi for the x3 called "Hi-Fi, low price". So I guess we don't even expect it to have that high fidelity sound. I already have a good sounding player which is Sansa ZIP, even if X3 is an upgrade, it can't be crucial which is what need. I think I'll wait for the X5 and...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

I have read some very nice opinions of X3 on a russian forum(I'm from these parts). Some come with a wow, some say it's just good for the price. Others say although it has very nice sound, it's fun to listen to, it soudns clean, but it doesn't have the LIVE sound feeling to it like a Hi-Fi...

    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

It's nice how RE400 is called the closed back IEM and it even sounds closed back, the highs are not airy like HD 650 for example, they are precise and lack the added airiness just like any other closed headphone, but also the sound comes clean and articulated, you hear what's on the recording. I...

    Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

One word of caution though. The tips change the soundstage and sound overall. I like the smallest tips the best, with normal ones there was too much midbass and too small soundstage.     About the 3d soundtage of Re400 is no joke, I agree it is phenomenal for $100. But for that soundtage to...

    PX100-II Review | Discussion Thread

Quote:   I felt like betrayal at first, but I still bought a pair of PX100 II. Only to find out that they're basically the same headphones. I don't like the bass in PX100 II, seems too much of it, I don't know is it the bass, or something else, but PX100 sounds a bit more light than PX100...
