    Never had closed-back headphones--suggestions?

A lot of the suggestions so far can be found on Tyll's wall of fame for sealed over ears: https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame-over-ear-sealed You might start by going through this list and checking out a few reviews. Tyll seemed to like neutral with a hint of warmth...

Charging a portable dac/amp with a different AC adapter - damage?

Just wanted to pass along this response from DrunkSaru in the Oppo HA-2 thread where I also asked this question, in case of future readers via search engine. This and the responses here were very helpful, thank you guys. The owner had been using other 5V usb chargers with the HA2 so it should...

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Thanks guys, I'll look into grabbing a replacement. I purchased the used HA-2, can't wait for it to get here :)

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Thank you so much for such a thorough and informative reply! It would seem that it's unlikely that the device would have been damaged given the scope of USB chargers consumers typically have lying around the house, and now I also know what to look for to make sure whatever charger I may use in...

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

I'm hoping someone subscribed to this thread who is knowledgeable about electronics can help me out! I'm hunting for a used HA2 to buy, and located one that looks well cared for and is priced fairly, but the owner appears to have lost the original AC adapter and has been using other chargers...

Charging a portable dac/amp with a different AC adapter - damage?

This is probably a dumb question. I'm looking to buy a used Oppo HA-2, found one that looks great, well cared for, all original accessories and box, priced in line with older HA2 listings, etc, except it appears the owner lost the original AC adapter and has been using other chargers in its...

The Hassle-Free Headphone Recommendation Thread: Cans that sound great without amping, modding, or burn-in.

Oh of course, I meant "here" specifically as in this thread! And the thread title isn't asking for portables, it's asking for headphones that sound good without an amp! And I'm saying, if you have a decent phone or laptop, the HD600 can sound better unamped than more expensive, dedicated...

Hate the 1990s Pro, Looking at the new LCD2 Classic

I'm not talking about the manual, I'm talking about the reviewers and enthusiasts that will rave about the sound of a headphone for music listening. Don't act like no one has ever spoken highly of the DT 1990 or other studio monitors for general music listening. If every reviewer said "great...

The Hassle-Free Headphone Recommendation Thread: Cans that sound great without amping, modding, or burn-in.

I tried the B&O/Beoplay H6 2nd Generation which is really strongly recommended by many as a great-sounding portable headphone (built to not need an amp). I didn't like the sound, thought the bass was way too boosted and it muddied up about 3/4 of the songs, with the other 1/4 sounding nice but...

Hate the 1990s Pro, Looking at the new LCD2 Classic

It's not like the DT1990 is never recommended for people listening to music. Give him a break, it's hard for people new to headphones to know what they'll like until they go and try it.

    hd 660 s vs hd 6xx

If they sound the same to you why not sell the one (660S) that makes you more money? People can tell you the 660S is better for XYZ reasons but if you can't discern the difference then those reasons aren't better than $$ in your pocket.

Thanks for the kind and warm welcome, ebjarrell! I hope my post didn't make you feel defensive or anything... I'll continue to politely express my opinion and ask for help if I'm unsure about something, as I did above. Have a good day.

    New Member Introductions thread

Am I understanding the welcome message correctly that I cannot edit my profile until I've made a few posts? I would like to change my gender to unspecified (at least until I can put up an actual avatar) as I really hate how prominently it is advertised by default. I'm not someone who waives...
