Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

It doesn't seem to change when I apply pressure to the headphone, or when trying the tape method. Don't really feel like I should have to mod something out of the box though, that's my personal thought. Gonna pack them up tonight for the return.

Well, that didn't last long... My Sundara has developed a rattle/buzz in the right channel when it hits certain frequencies. At first I thought it was a fluke but I'm hearing it all the time now. I remember this problem WAY back when I got my original HE-400. A rattle in one of the channels...

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

Sundara sounds pretty close my wife's 400i. Bigger bass on the Sundara though. 400i sounds a little weak in comparison. Not as massive a difference as Original 400 vs Sundara, but there is a difference. It's too hard to pick out the differences switching back and forth between the two. I'd say...

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

OK, I just listened to several tracks listening back to back with my Sundara and my Original HE-400. Keep in mind 400 has hundreds of listening hours on them, and the Sundaras are new. LOKI was being bypassed, so no EQing done. Compared to the HE-400, the Sundara has less massive bass, but...

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

Well, I don't mean that I can't HEAR vast differences across all of these headphones, I'm just not good at the terminology. I could probably describe how they sound, of course, but it won't be in fancy terms haha. I can of course give it a shot! I didn't get a change to sit down and do an A-B...

Not really. The yokes are very stiff metal. I can when I get home tonight. Good Tears. The build quality is much better than the 400i

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

They come with mildly angled pads. I'd like to think I have an average head shape and I've been listening to them for about 6 hours nonstop and I'm VERY comfortable. The pads are about the same "spongyness" as the HE-400i I have hanging up and about 1/2" as firm as the original HE-400 I've got...

This is what I mean. I suppose I should have said Left to Right Swivel. They do swivel up and down. Just looked at that AT HP and it looks like the opposite to this. Again It was ZERO problem for me and I've had them on for a few hours now, I don't feel like they are in an unnatural position...

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

Wearing the Sundara's right now. Build quality on the Sundara's brings a tear to my eye after recently buying the 400i for my wife and being a little shocked that they were once sold for about $450. I own original HE-400 and would have felt ripped off if I paid $450 for the "i" variant. I can...
