changing DAC volume
I have an Audio-GD NFB-2 that needs it's output volume lowered. I had it raised by Kingwa a while ago and due to a new amp set-up I want to drop it back to the standard line-level output. I'm not an electronics person so I'm asking for some help to get me started learning what I need to...- geraldsmallbear

How do I adjust the output volume (voltage?) on Audio-GD NFB-2
As mentioned in the title, I'd like to lower the volume before it hits my amp. I had it raised by King Wa and it's a bit too loud. It would be nice to know how to tweak it and find the sweet spot. I was going to grab some Goldenjacks but they seem to be no more and I also have...- geraldsmallbear

Ross Martin Audio DACs? BB PCM1794 based DAC ($199 single DAC, $399 dual DAC with headamp)
I just had mine delivered today but I can't plug it in yet because....there's no plug, ... just bare wires. Can someone advise on how to wire up a wall-plug. I'll be getting a second opinion obviously, but some basic advice would help as I'm not an electrician. There seems to be no + or ...- geraldsmallbear

Can I use the Pre-Out on my integrated to drive my phones?
I've moved on from that particular amp and am no longer interested in headphones, but I did get a sensible answer (nothing could have prepared me for the shock) from Redgum. So this is for anyone who's searching threads and wants something approaching a reasonable answer to a reasonable question...- geraldsmallbear

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
Quote: I didn't realise Nusantra was the Indonesian name for Indonesia, I'll have to add that one to my list. I haven't got the cover off yet because one of the screws is already rounded off slightly from the factory and I've decided to buy a new set of little specialised...- geraldsmallbear

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
Quote: Can you please put this in layman's terms. I've had an NFB-2 for about 10 months and the treble roll-off is driving me mad, I've been considering spending double on another DAC just to get something of comparable quality with treble. What I need to know is: 1. How...- geraldsmallbear

Can I use the Pre-Out on my integrated to drive my phones?
That's alright, perhaps someone else knows what the Aux does. I had several internet experts tell me it definitely wouldn't work and would most assuredly be too quiet. I may prefer to use a buffer, but there's still some info I'm waiting on and it's nice to have a reasonable workaround in...- geraldsmallbear

Can I use the Pre-Out on my integrated to drive my phones?
I have an ME-240 Integrated amp which I'm using to drive a pair of AKG 141's with the Aux-out at the moment. I'd like to know if it's safe to use the Pre-out instead. The reasons are: the Aux-out volume is too high and not adjustable on the unit.- geraldsmallbear

Audio_GD NFB-2 Has No Soundstage
Quote: That's good news, what power cord did you upgrade to? I'm planning to bi-wire with fat cable very soon and I suspect that might solve my problem as well. I've been noticing at close range my tweeter is significantly quieter than the midrange. It seems to vary with...- geraldsmallbear

Audio_GD NFB-2 Has No Soundstage
Quote: You're right, in principle, I just upgraded to 16 and it does 'have' Kernel streaming, but it doesn't 'do' Kernel streaming unfortunately. What I get is a lot of slightly recessed stuttering. But this is still on XP, it may be fixed on 7 and I'll find out in a few days hopefully...- geraldsmallbear

Audio_GD NFB-2 Has No Soundstage
Quote: I'm sorry to hear that, but it is good to hear honest feedback about this DAC. I can tell you with certainty that it will get better, but it will take ages. I'm about 2 months into burning it in (at least 10 hours per day) and I think it's still going. It seems that all DAC's...- geraldsmallbear

Audio_GD NFB-2 Has No Soundstage
Quote: I had pondered this too. I just checked using this site: http://www.eminent-tech.com/music/multimediatest.html and this one: http://www.digital-recordings.com/www-dfg/www-dfg-sine-HR/dfg_help_shr.html And they are definitely in phase. The RCA cables are...- geraldsmallbear

Audio_GD NFB-2 Has No Soundstage
Thanks for taking the time to reply. While I think your methodology is sound, most of those tests either can't be done because I lack the equipment or are redundant because I recently switched from a cheaper DAC that had a huge soundstage - as I mentioned (but ASIO WAS working then). If you post...- geraldsmallbear
