Suggestions for $200-$400-dac
The reason I would prefer an external DAC, is because of the limitations of the mini-itx-board. It is a extremly small card, and has only one pci-slot. If possible, I would like to use the onboard spdif to feed the dac, and save the pci-slot for a digital tv-capture card. I already own a EMU...- gark

Suggestions for $200-$400-dac
I know my speakers deserves a good source, so I might stretch that price-range a little bit. However.. do you really believe a soundcard that cheap will be better than a $300-$400 DAC?- gark

Suggestions for $200-$400-dac
I'm building a linux-powered media-box based on the MS10000E mini-itx board. Have been looking around for a DAC to go with my setup (ShengYa SA-T3/SP-T300 + B&W Nautilus 805). I see the DAC1 is quite popular around here, but it is a bit out of my price-range. Have been considering this model...- gark

Roku HD1000
http://www.rokulabs.com/products/hd1000/index.php This looks like a real beauty. Based on linux, this thing is able to play both audio and video over an ethernet connection. I'm thinking about buying one of these, and mod it so I can pipe a raw audio-stream through this thing. The only thing...- gark

Lite Audio DACs
Yes. I'm aware that RME probably is the best when it comes to linux-support. I have also looked at the Audiophile 2496. Is the soundquality about the same for cheap soundcards as for more expensive ones when using the digital outs? I'm thinking about using spdif to feed the DAC.- gark

Lite Audio DACs
Thanks for a quick reply. So you think I should go for it? I currently own a EMU 1212m, but I am going to replace this because of lack of linux-drivers (I'm creating a disk- and fanless computer for my livingroom, so I need linux). What card would you suggest could deliver a descent digital...- gark
