    'normal' headphones...

Canalphones don't isolate as well as an IEM, but the difference between a canalphone and an "ipoddy" earbud is fairly substantial. If bass is a priority then you pretty much have to find something that seals (canalphone or IEM) or move up to something larger.

Do you ever stop to think that this hobby is a joke?

"Get back to the basics.. It's all about enjoying the music.." I think this is some valuable advice. Every hobby can be taken to the extreme, try browsing sites dedicated to coffee, cigars, or anything for that matter, and you'll see what I mean. With that said, I think this hobby is a little...

    finnaly got ksc 75s!

I was really amazed by the KSC75's as well. Not sure why, but I always thought Koss was like the Coby/Tandy of headphone companies, but so far I've been satisfied. Not crazy about the earclip design, but the sound is worth it. I believe it was Kramer who posted a list of Koss/RS phones that use...

    Marshmallows - Any good?

Unless you're absolutely sure that she would really enjoy IEM's, you might want to save your money. I gave my wife my E2c's when I upgraded to the E4's, and although she'll happily admit that they sound better, most of the time she uses the buds that came with her iPod "because they're less of a...

    iems and earbuds.risky!

Quote: some people say, "c'mon, you're weak". I wanted to say screw you, but then again I realized that they're probably just ignorant Don't worry about it, they probably couldn't hear what you said anyway.

    iems and earbuds.risky!

Did she state why IEM's cause problems? It's hard to believe that a phone that blocks out ambient noise would cause more hearing damage than say, a pair of full-size cans. I can understand with earbuds since they offer poor isolation and typically require you to crank up the volume to get any...

    KSC75 drivers

Sorry if this has already been covered, but can anyone recommend a circumaural phone with the same drivers or similar sound as the KSC75? Thanks

    Sony ex51

I've owned one pair of the EX-71 and two pair of the EX-51. IMO, they sound pretty good. Actually, having listened to nothing better than the MX300 at the time, I thought they were downright amazing. One thing I didn't like about them was the way you're supposed to wear them around the back of...

    Sound Cancelling/Blocking headphones

Sorry to hear that. Since he's already home, maybe you could get him a $150 gift card from a place where he can try out different headphones or has a laid back return policy? I know that gift cards may seem thoughtless to some people, but if he were able to do a side-by-side comparison of other...

Jane needs Tarzan in IEM jungle

I've never heard the 595's but it sounds like we have similar tastes in terms of bass response. So far I've tried the E2, E3, E4, PX-200 and KSC-75 with an unamped 5th gen iPod. The KSC-75 on the Treble Boost EQ setting is about as close as I can get to solid, yet tight bass without destroying...

    Sound Cancelling/Blocking headphones

I assume he's military? Maybe a pair of pseudo-IEM's like the Sony EX-51 or Sennheiser CX-300? They don't sit as deeply in the ear as a normal IEM but they're still effective at blocking outside noise. Another plus is they're not a huge investment, so you won't have a lot of money tied up in...
