'd like advice on headphone/soundcard combination, mostly for ARMA 3 or other fps games, and flightsimulation

Ugh... I usually don't like it myself when people dont tell what they end up with after I've given some advice.   Sorry, I'll make it right:   I've bought the Samson SR850. It's cheap and works. It appears my internal soundcard is more than adequate for now, so I also bought the ModMic as a...

Wanting to decorate my headphones, lol. (audio-technica logo)

maybe those iron-on letters they sometimes use for T-Shirts? I know there's sheets of that stuff you can feed into an inkjet printer...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

that's basically it, yes. So if you can combine the two, it saves a tracking system. An alternative might be a headtracker with solid state gyroscopes (I know a guy who'se making those, but they are still prototypes and only work on 3 axis instead of the 6 axis movement tracking TrackIR...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

Now that's just showing you haven't tried it... ever. Using headtracking, your eyes will never leave the screen. That would indeed be plain stupid. Small movements of your head are translated into bigger movements in game. It's almost the same as checking out the edges of your screen. Normally...

'd like advice on headphone/soundcard combination, mostly for ARMA 3 or other fps games, and flightsimulation

Well, I guess I'm done than :). Your help is much appreciated. At first I also thought the SR850 was exactly the same as the superlux hd668b, but judging by your reply and some threads about those 2 models, it seems there's a small difference between the two. I guess my decision will be about...

Depends... I use a Track IR for my simulation games. Ergo: I move about a lot :).

Thanks a lot so far for pointing me in the right directions. The Asus Xonar DG(X) indeed seems to be my choice for a soundcard. But for now I'll start with new headphones. Trying out an AKG k701 I've had a taste of what new headphones can do :).   I've found a local (indeed, The Netherlands)...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

Whenever possible I'd love to see the Samson sr850 and/or Takstar hi 2050 (or equivalents) reviewed, as I see those mentioned on a regular basis for entry-level headphones for gaming. Comparing them to for example the Skullcandy could help me rate headphones vs gaming headsets.   Having said...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

First posted at #1736 (Summary: using onboard sound, want headphones and positional audio for gaming, pretty low budget, say €75) Thought I'd throw in my experiences and findings, based on advice here and some research of my own: - My onboard realtek 892 will not do positional audio through...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

I understand... a nice sportscar should come with a good engine as well.   You get what you pay for, and my budget won't allow me an external amp, a soundcard and good headphones. Looking at the models most people here seem to use, my new headphones probably won't even fall in the...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

So... I've read Mad Lust Envy's guide, I've read this guide... but I still feel there's something missing. Part of it is due to my budget (being way lower than what you guys seem to spend on sound), but mostly it's about the combination of soundcard/headphones. There seems to be a void there...

'd like advice on headphone/soundcard combination, mostly for ARMA 3 or other fps games, and flightsimulation

Thanks for your reply!   The Samson I can get here in NL, for the low price of €37. The Takstar is not available locally.   Any particular reason for choosing these 2 models? Or is it reasonably clear-cut in this pricerange?   How do these 2 relate to gaming headsets?

Choosing a headphone wisely seems to be way more complicated that I first thought. That's what brought me here, eventually. So... hi! I'm very new in the audio-world so sadly I don't have anything to offer myself. Instead I'm jumping straight in with something I "need". Sorry for that :).  ...
