DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix

Some updates for next firmware:   1. when viewing music files in any other way than via "Directory," the file's name is limited to the width of the screen and this (In my case) often hides the text that indicates the name of the track "07 Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herron Band - Deepest Red.m4a"...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Cant wipe the smile off of my face with my new 712s... Better than my friends LCD3s imo I had a Foobar EQ for my old K701s to improve the bass and tame the trebles... No EQ needed for these 712s.. can hear the extra detail because of that. But the cause of the smile is the beautiful mids and...

    Metrum Acoustics Octave

The room we tested the MKII in is definitely ideal and has very good acoustics. Prior to the 8s, he had the Pro 6s and they synergised exceptionally with his system. Neither speaker we've ever thought to be bright. Yes they are monitors designed for a flat response, but compared to some...

    Metrum Acoustics Octave

Quote: Yes I was using usb with the appropriate driver.   Just as a reference, I did NOT hear a difference between 100 and 200 hours of burn-in. Burn-in was done with a combination of "Purist Audio Design - System Enhancer Rev-B" and "The Orb's - Orbus Terrarum". I sent back the unit...

    Metrum Acoustics Octave

I had the MKII for 2 weeks (with 200hrs burn-in), I did extensive comparisons to my friends fully modded Ayon CD-2>Antipodes Reference>Emotiva Stealth 8s and I found it to be the opposite of 'Vinyl-Like'. This dac represented high Fs in a ruthlessly revealing 'digital-like' way that hurt mine...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

People using PCs as their source, I cannot reccommend enough the use of an equalizer to effectively flatten the frequency response of you headphones. My k701s are fantastic with a good eq and are a fair bit too bright without the eq... the difference is HUGE

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

@Lloyd, When I refer to 'Nasal,' the sound was inhibited/tamed/restrained in the higher frequencies (which F.R. charts might suggest).. On a mild level, it kinda sounded like the >~2kHz was coming through a sort of 'tube.' This 'Tube' effect I'm talking about can be replicated by cupping...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

After 30 hours burn in, I've decided that the HE500s are not for me, and I'm disappointed with the nasal sound. Luckily, I'll be able to return them for a full refund. I measured the impedance and it was 45.1ohms for right and 44.6ohms for left. If the sound of my balanced 701s are 10, the...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Got my HE500s today and I'm not sure if I like them.. Out of the box, they controlled sub-bass superbly.. and the mids were creamy... but the >~2kHz, the frequencies seemed a bit nasal and recessed to me. After I applied an eq in Foobar, the sound is a fair bit better; less nasal and more...

+1.. When my 500s arrive, I would like to test the impedance during the 30day test period.. but dont know how. I will create some mono sine wave tones and listen to whether the sound is coming from the center or not.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I pulled the trigger on the HE-500s, and being a 20yr old student, I hope they're an investment worthy of my savings   I never knew that you could use an equalizer going spdif out from windows; cause when I tried that some months back, I was getting clipping all the time in both Foobar and...

What kind of pads can be inserted on the HE-500 instead of the stock pads? Can you use any pad that is detachable and has four slits like on the K701? If so, does anyone know some brands of pads that can be used? Regards

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I went to Addicted to Audio today and auditioned the Grado RS1 ($695AU) and Shure SRH840 ($188AU) headphones. I also auditioned but did not like the Beyerdynamic DT880 (250ohm), DT990 (600ohm) & T70P, the Audio-Technica W1000s. Quite good were the Shure SRH940s and Grado PS500s but they weren't...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Hi,   Has anyone compared HE500s to K701s?   Running balanced out of my NFB-10SE, I've thoroughly enjoyed my K701s' detail and open natural sound for about 9 months now. When I compared my 701s to the HD650 & HD800s, T1s, Ultrasone Pro2900 & Edition 10s, ATH M50s, Audeze LCD 2.1/2.2 &...

Does the iPod Classic 160GB support FLAC? If not what other players with big storage would you recommend?

Hey, to Alphapheonix, have you tried holding down the power button for 40 seconds when its off? I did it with my Clip + (with rockbox) and it factory reset the device. It has worked ever since.
