I am only listening to acoustic music, So I had no issue with the amount of bass (only plugged to my FIIO X5II, Flac, APE, Highres and DSD files). Even though they are not as tight as on my Shure's Se425 they are well balanced with the rest of the spectrum. Slightly on the warm side but perfectly balanced, not in the face , musical, smooth apart from a little peak on the high mids, they have an amazing respect for the timbres, which is for me the main point. The relative lack of definition participate to how "liquid" the music is just like in...

Relatively new in the quest for THE IEM's which will suit my classical taste, I've just started looking for what cheap in-ears sound like. After the terrible DZAT DF10, I convinced myself there is no such thing as a cheap great sounding pair of IEM's. I was almost wrong. Of course, they don't have the mids refinement and details of my Shure SE425 but for 1/10th of the price, Oh my god, they sound very well sorted out ! A very confortable experience in any way. You don't feel them, too bad for the noisy cable. The slighty enhanced bass are well...
  3. Shure SE425 Earphone

It was a big investment for me. I was very pleased with the fit of my SE215 not so much with the bloated bass section and the warmish signature. At first, I was disappointed, switching from Tenore's, the shy sound appeared muled and even more worried by tweaked timbres (Only classical music in my Fiio X5II). After 2 weeks, my judgement had to be revised. First of : don't push the volume ; they don't like it. They have enough details to cope with it. Anyway now, I rather like them, especially when music has complex messages like, let's say, a...

When it comes to high end English components, you actually need to pick your side ! Not everyone's style by any mean... This thing could wake the dullest amp up ! Beware of the pairing... With a warm Electrocompaniet ECI3, it's luxurious sounding, it adds weight and impact, very detailed. At time and on some recordings on some pairing, it could almost be too much. on the show off side, but with talent.  The timbres remain surprisingly true to concert, but once again it's sometimes to good to be true... Don't seat to close to it, you could hear...
  5. Shure SE215

Once you spent the necessary 2 minutes to put them on, they are very confortable, they don't move around. The foam tips (not much "memory"),are solid and washabled (especially compared the Comply's). First of the protocole : Wav, Flac, APE, 24's and DSD (can't hear the high-res difference even though I tried hard). Almost exclusively classical music, CD rip and downloads. FIIO X5II and ASUS Xonar STX First, as a general remark: The sound heavily dependson the quality of the recordings ! Some will fit them nicely, some won't. It sounds obvious but...
  6. FiiO X5 2nd gen Premium Hi-Res DAP

Not as stylish as an A&K but very well built, apart from the flimsy wheel. Good materials and nice finishes and overall intiutive U.I. give a quite nice experience. First of, some APE and DSD files won't play. Some will play only from the files. It doesn't happen that often but it is driving me mad. The sound is quite pleasing, very detailed, smooth and warm even when using flat and clear phones like the AKG K550. The sound stage is quite narrow compared to the Ibasso Dx90. It doesn't shut down the trebbles like the previous X5 so the extention is...
