This is so strange. I tried your EQ settings with my Monks, no way on Earth. What is up with that peak at 3K? I can only explain this with your Monks must be damaged, or your ears :) For me this results in a screeching, unbearable sound. I also gave the EQ settings from here...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Someone in this thread (I think), a few pages ago said "someone in my country bought many of them and sells them cheap, even cheaper than Ali, USD10 for 10 shipped". This is all the information I have

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

I don't agree that the SHE3800 has "good drivers", whatever that means. As someone mentioned, they are very "filigrane", very thin, very sensitive to touch. And the batch of SHE3800 with the misspelled "PHILPS" on the earbuds themselves has a habit to relatively easy dislodge the membrane and...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

I didn't have problems with bass or sound in general with my fake fakes, the problem was they really didn't last very long, very sensitive if you by mistake have them on a tad too loud and then the membrane "jumps out" and they develop this horrible noise. (I have never have this happened with...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Did you rewire them? Anyway be careful, as said my two blew already and I didn't do anything really extraordinary with them. I also haven't seen any other picture where it was misspelled, you're the first besides my own. Interested to see what's your experience with them. PS: Re IEMs. I got my...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

You shouldn't have ANY troubles finding something better, for a fraction of the price. $100 - you must be kidding, this would get you a life-time supply for yourself and your children and grandchildren :) But of course it depends on your sound preferences: Check VE Monk Plus ($5), from...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Yes it says "Philips" on the bag but definitely "PHILPS" on the buds themselves. I checked all my 4 buds. My foam inside was also glued on the shell, and not (as I see on other pics) on the back of the drivers. I really suspect there are several types out there, for some reason I got the "bad"...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

My "Philips" SHE3800 from fasttech absolutely and undeniably say "PHILPS" (note the missing I) on the earbuds themselves, I just checked again with a loupe. I mean we all know these are not genuine, but I am just puzzled because pictures of these on the net all say "PHILIPS". Makes me wonder...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I use 5mm Nylon spiral "cable organizers" that you can get everywhere, mainly to protect ALL my wires, and in particular earbuds, from my cats. With these "organizers", you can also fold very long cables....or J-cables, and then just wrap the spiral around it...which could be an option for those...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Despite the Monks likely having better build quality than the SHEs, and the sound being more "open", I consider the SHEs simply more "fun" to listen to, especially if you like EDM or whatever music where you like some punch to the bass. Not that the Monks are "bad" in any way, but they're also...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Ok folks finally got my monks. While I think they are good, and definitely provide value for their costs (and, uhm, foams now for years with the Ex-Pack, I must have 50+ something foams now..lol), I think I'd slightly prefer the SH3800s, now speaking from my subjective sound preference. (I am a...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Well my first set of SHE3800 is busted, lasted about one week. :) I mistakenly had my PC on too loud today and this seemed to have "blown" the driver membrane out so it developed some horrible noise at low Hz. Tried to fix it, took driver out etc. but no dice. Using the other one now which I...

    DIY Earbuds

Re: Ozkan Mod for SH3800 again It's hard to see from the pictures in the original post, but it's possible that the tuning foam you had on yours (which is glued to the driver and not glued to the shell like with mine) is a thinner type of foam? The picture sort of seems suggesting this. Mine is...

    DIY Earbuds

Here my input about the "Ozkan Mod" with the SHE3800s. This is just my experience. * My SHE3800 had the "tuning foam" fixed to the housing, and not to the driver as in the original pic of the Ozkan mod. I got confused since I didn't see the logic in replacing the "tuning foam" with cotton...or...
