Philips Fidelio X2?!
I have the x2 and the akg k702. The x2 are very easily driven from a phone, so shouldn't have anything problem with the E10. Also the x2 works almost as well as the k702 for games in my opinion. Overall I listen almost exclusively to the x2 due to its non fatiguing signature vs the k702's more...- FlatCactus

Suggestions for audio setup.
The difference between DACs, Amps and DAPs are far, far less than the difference between headphones in my experience. Both the X5 and O2/Odac are known for their high fidelity so it depends what features you're after. If you're only looking for a computer setup I would recommend the O2/ODAC as...- FlatCactus

Can someone suggest $400-$600 over ear cans with good "neckability" (lol) ?
If the k550 is bright you may not be getting a proper seal. I find it quite balanced with almost as good sound quality as the k702 (though not quite as much detail, just) You could have a look at the Aiaiai Tma-1 and in its various editions. It's quite dark, though it doesn't sacrifice treble...- FlatCactus

How do i increase sound quality on my pc?
I'm going to come in from left field here and recommend the iBasso D7. It's usb powered, but it has a good headphone out with plenty of power for most headphones, both a 3.5mm and stereo RCA line out for speakers or another amp and also a coaxial digital output should you wish to connect it to...- FlatCactus

How should I "burn in" my new IEMS?
Burn in seems to be a very personal thing around here. Some think that it makes a huge difference while other will say it makes none at all. Personally I think most of your "burn in" will be your ears getting used to the sound and fit. I say have fun and pump some music through those buds...- FlatCactus

Mixing sub and bass frequencies on the Mo-fi's etc
Typically sub bass is below 80hz while mid bass sits around 80-150hz. Most headphones will easily reproduce mid bass, while it is more rare to find a headphone that will accurately and flately reproduce the <80hz frequencies. Headphone specs are mostly useless. The Akg k702's specs say it goes...- FlatCactus

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the ER-4B was the same as the ER4-S except for its slighty treble tilted frequency response to compensate in binaural recording?- FlatCactus

Looking for solid all-around headphones (games, movies, music) for about $100 - $150
For open headphones the akg k7xx is a good all rounder which scales well as you get better equipment. Great audio, great soundstage and accuracy for games and movies. The downside is the slightly lean sound they possess. The bass extends deep but is not super strong. If you can stretch your...- FlatCactus

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?
I have the ER4p/t (27 ohm 'p' version that comes with the impedance adapter to convert to the 100 ohm 's' version) and I find the output fine straight out of an iPhone 5s, nano 7g and touch 5g when using it without the adapter. With the adapter converting it to the S version I usually use a...- FlatCactus

Melbourne Head-Fi meet in second half of 2014
Hey guys, Just wondering what the go is with sources tomorrow having never been to one of these meets before. I'm bringing the D7 (usb) and the audio-gd (usb/opt/coax). Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but should I bring my laptop along as a source? I understand space might...- FlatCactus

I
I don't anything about your current sound card, so I can only speak for the E17 Using the a900x the sound was clean (no noise) with plenty of power, if I had to say anything it's that the overall sound is slightly warm. Not that that is a bad thing, it simply makes the sound less fatiguing...- FlatCactus

Melbourne Head-Fi meet in second half of 2014
Is this event open to newbies such as myself ? I don't have anything that high end or out of the ordinary but could bring: k702, er4p/s, audio gd 15.32, ibasso d7, aiaiai tma-1 depending on if people are interested and space constraints.- FlatCactus

AKG K550 with ModMic or Astro A40s?
Haven't used the a40, but do own the k550. If you don't wear glasses the sound of the k550 is good, very clear and precise for fps such as counterstrike, also have a decent and deep sub bass, though it is slightly recessed. If you have thin glasses (like myself ) then you will miss out on the...- FlatCactus

bowers & wilkins p5 noise isolation
The noise isolation of the p5 is very good, on par with medium depth insertion iems. I bought my pair in America and wore them for the 14 hour plane ride home to Australia. They are very non fatiguing sonically due to the high level of isolation and smooth and dark sound signature. The only...- FlatCactus
