Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Quote: Hi there, I'm not an expert but just in case it helps, I also have the Cardas Clear XLR 4 pin. THINKER also has the Cardas Clear XLR 4 pin, and he's terrific at explaining his impressions. (you'll find some in the earlier posts) In my opinion, I suggest you wait for the clear cable...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Quote: Hi AlanHell, yes I should have been clear that the number/percentages I quoted were just an expression of feelings, not actual measured numbers using pro equipment. I have noticed that Audirvana switches between 44100.0Hz, 48000.0Hz and 96000.0Hz etc automatically to match the...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
I've been running HDVD800 for 500+ hours now with Cardas Clear Balanced cable and sounds superb and I guess "setteld". Then I just discovered something very recently and wanted to share: I've been playing through Audirvana rather than iTunes, and initially I wasn't really aware of a difference...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Quote: I don't think saying "When you connect the HD-800 with Cardas Clear balanced to HDVD-800 then you have to reevaluate your review" is like saying "when you use an equalizer then you will have to reevaluate your review" because in this case Sennheiser themselves have provided the...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Quote: Yes the prices are really steep that's for sure. My Cardas Clear Balanced cable cost £650.00, but having said that, and it sounds absolutely astounding. I wish I could have made it to the London meet and brought it along. And would be great to compare it to Sennheiser's new...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Quote: Your early impressions are very similar to mine. I have been running my unit now for 350 hours and the sound has really smoothed out and the sound is stage has settled - and one really does get the impression that "scientifically" speaking this is how the music is meant to be. I...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
...just a further note after 24hours burn in... Well, already things sound noticeably different. That initial slightly "digital" sound, I guess I'd call it, that had me wondering if my tube amp is smoother, has gone. Unfortunately I cannot compare the DAC to anything of significance like...- fatwombat

My HDVD800 finally arrived today! Just some thoughts: I'm running the balanced Cardas Clear 4pin headphone cable that I got custom made from Cardas. My tracks are around 1500kbps - 3000kbps. Well, put simply, it sounds absolutely fantastic!!! Previously, I was using my...- fatwombat

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Sorry thinker , that should have read: "Taking into consideration the improvement that the Cardas Clear 1/4 plug gave over the 4 pin connection in your recent findings, do you think there could be further improvement by applying the 4 pin connection to the Cardas Clear over your Cardas...- fatwombat
