sony uda-1 + SS CS5 satellites for $799 NZ ($520 USD) good deal?
I am looking to get a desk dac for my PC and my local sony store has what seams to be a ridiculously good deal. For $799 USD I can get http://www.sony.co.nz/electronics/audio-components/uda-1 and http://www.sony.com/electronics/speakers/ss-cs5. The RRP for the uda-1's is $999 and the RRP of the...- falconmick

Cheap DAC which supports Optical In and either 3.5mm out and or RCA
I'm in nz :) so shipping direct from USA is expensive plus there's import fees. Had another friend recommend the schiits, maybe I'll look into em at a later time, currently trying to save money and can't justify over $100 atm. Was just hoping to not haveto listen to the horrible hiss from my...- falconmick

Cheap DAC which supports Optical In and either 3.5mm out and or RCA
So it's not a good idea to have audio straight from a DAC (w/o amp) to headphones? I am not too concerned if it's a little quite, my entire worry would be too loud and it caused a blow out. Also given that the $124 jcar ones you said are the only ones that would work cost $84 USD is that...- falconmick

Cheap DAC which supports Optical In and either 3.5mm out and or RCA
Hi guys, finally deciding to get around to buying a cheap DAC for my Xbox One, getting sick of the audio I get by plugging my headhphones into my screen (oh god, the noise is horrid) Was looking into the following: Jaycar High Definition Audio Digital-to-Analogue Converter - $79.90...- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
Thanks, I will keep an eye out. But by the looks of it only a single store in my Country sells it and it's an online site that I don't trust. Amazon won't ship it :(- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
The Sony MDR-1A really caught my interest as they have a really nice look, can't say about the sound though as so far none of my local stores have any available for testing. I kinda want to get the next tier up of sound quality but if the MDR-1A or other headphones at that price range isn't...- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
I am considering right now the MDR 1A MDR 100aap and the Yamaha HPH MT220. What would you all choose if money wasn't a factor. Also I have just come from 3 years of the M50's so that over powering bass that your talking about is what I'm used to. I tried some headphones of around the same price...- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
The Sony MDR-1A I have wanted, but It's just that they are double the price of the M50's, are they really that good? If I don't get the Sony Headphones, I instead could get a Fiio e18 + new M50's for the same price. What would be better? I already have a soundcard for my PC (asus essence stx...- falconmick

WoW, the VModa are quite allot more expensive, especially as they don't have any for sale in NZ, I would have to import then pay 10% ontop for tax :|- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
Thanks for the fast reply! The main thing that I loved about the M50's was that they were the first headphones I've ever owned which the mid/treb wasn't absolute crap. I don't mind my bassy bass, but do the V-Moda's miss out on the mid/treb or is it just that the bass is a bit over what it...- falconmick

Moving on from my ATH M50 - need new headphones!
I may or may not have got pissed off last night and threw my headphones on the floor last night... Well my temper tantrum came at a cost, the tiny bit of plastic that stops the headhpones from tilting back too far snapped and now they don't fit on my head quite right (as seen in this...- falconmick

Looking for $100-170 USD 5.1 headphones
Ok, I would really love to get a pair of stereo headphones which are more designed for music, but I prefer the multi use of the "gaming headsets" as on the odd occation that I do play a direction reliant game I really love the bonus of 5.1.. Also movies in surround sound just have that little...- falconmick

Looking for $100-170 USD 5.1 headphones
I was wondering, if I were to buy a 5.1 surround sound headphone, what would be the best to pick up? My needs are mostly music/movies, but I do play the occational FPS, so that is why I am interested in 5.1 Currently I have Gamecom 777 which have been alright, only issue being that the...- falconmick
