Seriously, stop acting like a child and send them back to Grado or the company you bought them from. Nothing is perfect, and sometimes you get a bad product. Return it and get on with your life.

This amp does sound sort of interesting for the price, assuming it can compete with amps in the couple hundred dollar range. How is one supposed to adjust the volume though? The company mentions the amp is a "power amp", and I have no idea what this means. Maybe its time for some research... 

The website he links to to buy the TK2050 doesn't seem to work. I would be pretty interested to hear if that little amp actually comes close to something like the Beta22. It looks like he's  just saying it has a ton of power to drive the headphones. I don't think that necessarily means the amp...

I'll get back to you guys in the next few days. I'm wrapping up finals tomorrow and will see if the local Hi-Fi shop can volunteer the use of an amplifier or two. 

Les,   The fact of the mater is that something in the compass is creating a noise that is not part of the music. The noise goes away when the DAC board is not in use. The DAC is meant to convert digital information to an analogue signal. From this alone it seems that the DAC is creating this...

I just switched the compass to non-dac mode, only using the amp. I guess the HDAM could be causing the problem since I never noticed it before with the other HDAM.    Any ideas why this HDAM would be causing a buzzing?   EDIT: crap it keeps buzzing even if I remove the HDAM
