The 272 makes a pretty good outside headphone because it is closed and has relatively good sound isolating properties. I think you mobile amp might have problems powering the 701. I've never had a 601.

I think it was the rain that made it good. They need to install sprinkler systems at all the tracks and randomly make it rain.

Rome is a lot better than spartacus. You can kinda tell that a lot of spartacus is CGI, whereas they built a pretty nice set for Rome. Also, Rome has better writing.

You also could have damaged the sound card. Do you have another source you could test your headphones on - like a MP3 player?

Personally, I'd rather have a machine match the drivers.
