Open back headphone recommendation below $300
Hi Arum 16, I am still new to tube amps and went with a recommendation of the Little Dot MKII as a newb friendly amp. My gear is as follow, optical to my Aune X1S, RCA to the Little Dot MKII with Riverstone Audio matched pair 7-pin GE JAN 5654W and Voskhod 6j1p-EV/6zh10-EV matched pair...- Ethanchan

Hey, not sure if you are interested in a tube amp but the Little Dot MKii is on massdrop for $129, if you are interested in going with a tube I would highly suggest this one as it is a great starter tube amp.- Ethanchan

If you would indulge one more recommendation, this one will be with the caveat that there may be some salty replies to what I am about to say. Some people find these headphones to be ugly, or lacking in the mids, and most of all, uncomfortable. With that in mind, I would recommend picking up the...- Ethanchan

I will tell you something that I wish someone would have told me when I started out... wait till the budget meets the want. I did not wait and wound up with plenty of headphones, dacs, and amps that I did not really enjoy, need or want in the end. I had always had my eye on the 598se and the...- Ethanchan

I wish I could give you a comparison between the two but I don't have the jubilee. I have heard that it does have more bass than the 6xx but it is not as clean sounding as the 6xx. I went with the 6xx because as I understand it, it is splitting the difference between the jubilee and the 700...- Ethanchan

Somshankar, I don't want to oversell the 6xx but it is the best headphone outside of the 800s for cello music. I must also explain that I did not hear that until I put it on my tube amp. The tube seems to fill that soundspace and makes it warm without losing the detail. I was listening to...- Ethanchan

AirPods or Jaybird X4 ?
I hate to jump on other peoples threads with questions but I did not want to start a completely new thread for a question you are asking. I would just like to expand on it and ask for advice on any brand in comparison to the Airpod as I have zero experience with IEM aside from the one that came...- Ethanchan

Looking at lots of headphones and would like opinions and help
I will tell you from first hand experience that the LCD 2 Closed are heavy headphones, but, it isn't as though they are so heavy as to make them uncomfortable. I personally enjoy the size and weight of these headphones. The Aeon Flow on the other hand are light as can be which to be quite honest...- Ethanchan

Looking at lots of headphones and would like opinions and help
First let me start by saying that Aeon Flow are great headphones, I own them and have no complaints about the what they bring to the table but more often then not I find myself reaching for my HD6xx or LCD 2 Closed depending on whether or not I am going to use my tube amp. At the Aeon Flow price...- Ethanchan

You can get the Sennheiser HD6xx for $199 on massdrop. This is IMO one of the best headphones in this price range aside from the $250 1More triple driver over ear. The 1More has deeper bass but has comfort issues and some people find it lacking in the mids. I am not sure what kind of sound...- Ethanchan

Amp/Dac into another amp?
I am by no means a super geek when it comes to this but I can tell you from much trial and error what i have found that works for me. Let me start by saying that everyone has their own tastes and what kind of sound is pleasing and preferred to them. I would also suggest that if you have access...- Ethanchan

New Member Introductions thread
Hello all, My name is Ethan and I am an audioholic. I became an audioholic in the 80's when everything was HIFI, and have been chasing this rabbit down every hole ever since. I traveled the world and the 7 seas for 22 years and did not find my tribe until I got stationed in Japan. It was...- Ethanchan
