I found that the A8 provides +5V DC power on the tip for the microphones. I used a TRRS to 3 RCA adapter, where the RCA for the tip is not connected to anything. The A8 automatically calibrates the levels when you press CAL-OK.- Erik Garci

Yes, it's possible, and I think it would sound the same. I think the A8 would let you reduce whatever delay was measured in the PRIR. For what it's worth, I heard no difference when I compared these on my A8: 1. Stereo PRIR and HPEQ measured by line out directly to mic in (no actual mic). 2...- Erik Garci

Yarra Speaker System
There are two ways to look at this effect. One way is that it emphasizes side audio. Another way is that it is diminishes middle audio, especially voices which tend to be in the middle. Either way, the result is the same, because middle and side are relative to each other. I would prefer this...- Erik Garci

I wonder if you could pre-capture the in-ear microphone signals as well. That is, record the microphone signals to a file while playing the sweeps from a file, then later play the microphone signals from the file to the Realiser (A8 or A16). I already figured out how to feed line-level signals...- Erik Garci

The Atlona devices go a step further than that. Both sinks can be active at the same time. For example, it passes the multichannel stream to a receiver (which has the audio EDID that the source detects), and it downmixes to 2-channel for a TV.- Erik Garci

Atlona makes devices that produce stereo audio for one sink while passing through the multichannel stream to another sink. This might be a work-around. https://atlona.com/product/at-hd-m2c/ https://atlona.com/product/at-uhd-m2c-bal/ https://atlona.com/product/at-hdr-m2c/- Erik Garci

Yarra Speaker System
It was claimed that the Yarra's beamforming would be equivalent to 30 dB of crosstalk cancellation, but when I use my SPL meter to measure the ILD, it only gets up to 10 dB in Surround mode. If it was 20 dB or more, it would work much better for binaural content. As far as Stereo mode is...- Erik Garci

That's unfortunate, but if you add an A/B switch, those limitations won't matter. Another option is to muffle one ear or stand a mattress between the speakers. I wonder if the A16 supports the dual-user method like the A8 does.- Erik Garci
