Also  - what about semi-closed? i see manufacturers using that term. Can any distinct  qualities be attributed to such design choice? They will still leak sound (less maybe?) any other qualities?

Anything, are higher impedance headphones better at anything than lower impedance headphones. As in, can we distinctly say, i'm looking for a (enter particular usage or sound quality or any reason), therefore i'm going to choose higher impedance headphones. 

    Are you saying that Klipsch S4 seal the canal and create no "thump" sound (microphonic) when running - phenomenon described by iamthecheese.  i have heard of this happening to several people even though they use cord clips and place the cord behind the ear. I'm wondering how common this...

Are you suggesting that there are no other benefits of higher impedance headphones beyond, now antiquated usage in the studio? Can we say with that in some way impedance is responsible for some aspect of the quality of sound. Perhaps better way to phrase the question would be to ask if someone...

Besides lower noise floor, if that's indeed the case, i wonder if perhaps higher impedance is, in any way, responsible for more impactful faster/controlled response (particularly in lower frequencies)?
