Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)

I’ve been thinking of trying out the MMT as a way of simplifying my very complicated system, which involves software upsampling. Some of these comparisons with other DACs are with HQP upscaling used on, e.g., the May and the DAC200. Can I assume the MMT does not need HQP or PGGB, and doesn’t...

    CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

All of this has been very interesting, as I’m thinking of letting go of my Dave and Sean Jacobs DC3/DC4 hybrid power supply. If anyone is interested, please send me a message.

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

That stage though. Sincere question, has anyone found another IEM that can stage as big and broad as the i4? I’d be curious. I stopped looking because the open back design of the i4 seemed to be just too big of a structural advantage. In the world of circumaural phones, great closed designs can...

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

This. Is. The. Answer. I'm being dramatic. I get that. But. This. Is. The. Answer. What's the question? O' the questions are many. Why don't I take the i4s out on bike rides, walks, and trips freely, whenever and wherever I want, for fear of losing an i4 to a puddle or a gutter? Why, in the...

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

Hey Brady, those gaskets you pointed me to on AZ will get here tomorrow. I’m going to use the earhooks I have, cut off the clips and attach them to the gasket. I may also give your solution a try with wire and heat shrink some tubing over it. Can you point me to the baling wire you used? How...

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

Sad words. Why must we live this way in fear (grin)? Something I’m going to explore is trying to design a retainer housing that attaches the hooks to the horseshoe clips from the earfins, Since those are made of a hard rubber, they will never break. If I could just find a way of printing a part...

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

That’s really disappointing to hear. What material did you use? My local shop recommends a tough resin for maximum strength. Did anyone here find a material that lasts for printing hooks? Nothing has worked for me other than the hooks. So, I’m really trying to find a durable solution to the...

Thanks, but I have to get custom hooks printed as mine are heavily reshaped.

I How much did it cost? The local shop says there is a lot of work involved to clean it up and make sure they fit tolerances. What is a reasonable price to pay for getting a set printed?

    CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

My current chain between streamer and DAVE is: FIBBR optical alpha USB > Phoenix reclocker > Sablon USB > SRC-DX > High Fidelity BNC cables. The Phoenix is spendy, but the FIBBR alpha USB is an effective way of cleaning up the signal though optical conversion. Alex Crespi, over at Uptone...

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

Thanks. Which filament plastic did you use, PLA+, ABS? Have you had breaks at the horseshoe clips? With the stock earhooks, it always snaps where the hooks attach to the i4 housing.

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

I’m getting some earhooks 3-D printed because of the breakage problem on the clips. The 3D printing shop told me that they would use resin over filament plastic because of the fine work required, and that resin is much stronger. However, the information online says that resin is brittle and that...
