The last ones I saw here in germany were sold at €950 with the AMp and a Stax adaptor - but that was a steal.

And saves you a lot of money on the long term... no need for "sorry for your wallet".

Change the pads. Quartermodded AKG 414 pads should be the cure.

Sonn the older ones will become more expensive... that's my opinion.

For Metal, I like the Audio-Technica AD2000 best. Not the best choice for electronica, though... but acceptable.
