Yeah, same thing happened to me. At first I thought it was crappy wifi, which I complained about earlier. Turns out what was really going on was the auto shut down feature designed to turn the player off when nothing happening. For whatever reason, it wasn't recognizing that the side-loaded apps...

I reached out to Crutchfield and they took care of me. Glad to see that the dealers are being cool about it. :xf_cool:

I just received the case for my Alpha today, the same day that I found out they're giving them out for free as a special. Dang! Am I the only one that feels a little like I just got shafted for being an early adopter?

I have, but not with 100% success. For example, I couldn't get the Spotify desktop app to play through it no matter what I did, but had no trouble with the web version (or anything on the web, for that matter, or on my computer in general). I haven't tried Tidal, so can't speak to that...

It's not a bandwidth stealing issue. It's just that the Alpha doesn't have as robust a receiver as the other stuff. (I'll have full 5 bars on everything else, but the Kann is like 1 bar.) A wifi extender would probably help, but it hasn't gotten irritating enough for me to go down that route...

Ok, but not great. This was actually my biggest concern before I bought it, since I pretty much listen to 100% streamed music... In my home office, I've got two computers and my phone on wifi. None of those devices have *ever* dropped a connection, and have zero problems. Kann Alpha? Craps out...

I get them too, but I notice that it happens when the wifi craps out, and then the device gets confused and sits there rather than reconnecting. Once I mess with it, then it reconnects and everything is fine again.

I agree with the previous comment - definitely a keeper. I've heard it's pretty great with the Empyreans too. Crutchfield offers a 60-day no questions return policy, so if you're curious, there's a way to check it out without having to fully commit until you know you're going to like it.

I haven't heard any other daps, but I can say it crushes the old iphone 6 I was listening to before. LOL But seriously, it actually beats the two desktop amp/dacs that I've listened to as well (Audeze Deckard, and the $5k Mcintosh MHA150)

They have some leather cases you can get for $150. The box is the only case you get otherwise.

Just got mine. It's much smaller than I was expecting. (this is not a bad thing!) Anyway, I'm having a heck of a time installing the apps. Has anyone else managed to install anything? I'm going to apkpure.com, download the app (let's say Spotify), then copy that into the OpenService folder on...

Can anyone report on the stability of the wifi on this? I mostly like to stream, and almost bought an A&K SR25 but got scared away by all the reports of unstable wifi. I'm really hoping they fixed that piece.
