In hindsight i wonder if i missed out if I had paired it with a tube DAC like the Border Patrol or even the LTA Aero. I had it paired with a PS Directstream Jr because it had a streamer built in. It was more of a convenience thing.

I got the HPA-1 at first because of reviews and overall reputation for Pass gear having a tube-like sound, which I didn’t find to be the case at all. To me it sounded like a good SS amp, but nothing to write home about.

A bit difficult to explain for me, but here it goes: A Senn HD 650 will sound great with the HPA-1, as detailed as you can demand for an amp costing $3500 or more. But on a DNA Starlet it just sounded delicious. I used to chase transparency and detail above all, but now I just wanna sway...

As to my experience with the HPA-1before selling, I felt the Pass lacked character, compared to my DNA Starlet at least; to my ears it didn't sound neutral nor warm. It lacked nothing, but nothing in particular stood out. This might be a plus for a lot of folks in this forum, because it means...

Tried going all out before, twice (Woo Wa8, Mojo2/Poly), and they simply wont outclass a home rig IMO. Now I keep my expectations in check when it comes to portable HiFi. As long as they are closed, easy to drive, detail retrieval is there and sound signature is to my liking, I'm happy.

Never hear the LCD-2 Closed, but am a big fan of the LCD-3 for sheer musicality. But wanting the polar opposite for my UERR and be easy to drive for my DAP the winner seems to be the Bokeh. Not familiar with the ZMF house sound, but all comments point to a very pleasing sounding set.

BTW how does the Bokeh compare to Audeze’s LCD-2 Closed? Has anyone here heard the 2 and is able to explain the difference? Both seem easy to drive and are of similar price range. I know the LCD-2 is bulkier, but that’s the main difference I can tell, at least on paper.

That's sort of what I want. The Bokeh seems like a nice compliment to my UERR's with my Walkman.

I am close to pulling the trigger on these. With portability in mind, what are the options recommended for max acoustic seal? ZMF lists a bunch of options (pads, mesh), so wan to know what options, besides the case, should I go with.
