I'm currently testing out some 800S. I like them quite a bit so far.

Totally understood on avoiding the adapter. I'll keep an eye out. I don't see very many custom USB cables though.

I sold my 6XX not too long ago due to the fact that I bought some Focal Exel and had stopped using the 6XX. I've been mulling around picking up another pair, because occasionally I try to reach for them now.

Currently reading The Wasteland by Stephen King. It's part three of his The Dark Tower series. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

My speaker rig on my PC is an SMSL AD18 outputting two Elac F6. I've been super happy with it. It also works decently as a headphone amp, though I prefer my Modi mutlibit -> JDS Atom chain.

I haven't seen such a thing, but is it that your DAC has a USB micro input? You might have more luck finding a USB-A to USB-Micro that is more like what you want.

I have. It's a good match. Everything sounds pretty natural, at least compared to my Schiit Magni 3

Oh yeah, this thing definitely punches way above its weight. Heck, it could still be plastic, but having a knob with some feeling to it (like some "clicks") and some more weight in the amp would do it wonders for perceived quality.

Why are you going through a Soundblaster Z? Myself, I'm going from my motherboard to my DAC via USB, and then to the amp via RCA from there. If you're using the 3.5mm from the Soundblaster Z, then your computer is still doing the processing of the sound, so you could have the mixer turned down...

Also running a 6XX here. Comfortable listening level for me, running through my PC and then my Modi Multibit (and then Atom) is about 30% on low gain.

Surprised nobody here has mentioned the Grace SDAC yet. I don't know if they ship to the UK though. Otherwise, the Topping D30.
