It would be a great option, but these monitors have a seemingly rare front volume control that would work on the whole system if going from monitors > sub. I considered getting something like a TC Level Pilot to put in between but that would just add an extra piece of gear that I'd rather not...

Using the HPF on the sub would definitely be the easiest solution for a seamless crossover. But these speakers have extensive options for frequency cutoff and crossover settings. And this way I can use them exactly how I wanted to, like oversized 2.1 PC speakers in a box.
