Options for separate mic
Well I got the BT TaoTronics headset and tried recording on my phone with it. Had to look for an app that could even record from the BT mic as most can't and even then it would only record at 8khz/32kbps, compared to the phone's mic at 44khz/128kbps, so as you can imagine it sounded like crap...- doveman

Options for separate mic
At the moment I'm using a ghetto mic I knocked up by taking the boom arm from a £3 headset and replacing the capsule with a Panasonic WM-61A Electret Condenser mic capsule http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-WM-61A...=item1c14d3e197 (there was a bunch of useful circuit diagrams on that listing...- doveman

What audio formats do games use?
I'm looking at getting an HDMI extractor which decodes the following formats to 5.1 - Dolby Digital (AC3)/DTS Would that cover all the surround formats that games use or might use in the future? If games were to use TrueHD or DTS-HD as long as they provided a backup surround track in Dolby...- doveman

HDMI to 5.1/7.1 analog converter
I need something that will allow me to connect my PC, Raspberry Pi, Xbox360 and STB HDMI outputs and decode all audio formats (DTS, Dolby Digital, etc) to 5.1 (maybe 7.1) analog line level outputs. I bought a pair of self-powered X-mini Max speakers...- doveman

Capsule for PC Mic input
I needed a mic to attach to my Samson SR850 headphones. I used one of these Panasonic WM-61A Electret Condenser mic capsules http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-WM-61A-Electret-Condenser-MIC-Capsule-10PCS-/120608514455?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c14d3e197 as they're meant to have high...- doveman

Razer Surround (7.1 virtualization software)
Yeah, I wanted it to work but it just doesn't do anything worthwhile for me, more of a enhanced/wider stereo than surround, so real speakers it will have to be. I don't really understand why Razer wouldn't work with HDMI though, as I thought Razer processes the sound coming from the game and...- doveman

Razer Surround (7.1 virtualization software)
My turn to necro :) Just wanted to add that it doesn't work well for me with my Samson SR850, which I thought would be well suited being open-back. It gives things a bit more atmosphere, much like reverb would but I can't say there's any great positioning effect that I can notice. I tried it...- doveman

Any cheap soundcards that do Dolby Headphone/CMSS-3D and Dolby Digital Live?
I was actually using Razer Surround until recently but I found it was causing a lot of crashes and I also kept finding that I'd boot up a lot of the time and have no sound, whether from the Razer control panel tests or even after disabling Razer and trying to use the normal soundcard instead, so...- doveman

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
Yeah, I can solder but if you're talking about soldering the cable on the buds, from past experience they tend to have very fine wires that are rather hard to strip and solder and I don't want to risk ending up with a broken pair of buds :-o I could make my own adapter cable if there's...- doveman

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
OK thanks, that's affordable but it doesn't say anything about being a omtp to ctia adapter and the description suggests it's just for using normal 3.5" headphones with an iphone, so it still might not make the mic work on Android. I don't really want to waste money, even if it's only £1 and...- doveman

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
OK but the ones on Amazon costs £7.90, which is almost as much as the headphones, so that's not worth it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiio-LU1-Adapter-Cable-headphones-black/dp/B005I0GHV8 Searching google or ebay didn't find any cheaper alternatives. I guess I'll have to return the buds and...- doveman

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
Dammit, I asked my brother to get my these for Christmas but it turns out the mic doesn't work with Android phones, only Ipod/Iphone. I guess I was tired when researching what to get and got confused :( Is there a cheap adapter I can get to make the mic work (don't care about the button...- doveman
