Thx for the suggestions. I think I'm just gonna test out these rp 500m ii for a week or two and decide from there. Are the sound bars comparable to a budget bookshelf system? I wasn't all that impressed by the couple I've heard but i didn't really get a chance to properly demo them either.

I think the benefit of these magnets is the punch. Its a bit difficult to describe, the d7200 have more bass hands down vs the clear but the difference is the texture, impact and weight of the hit. The d7200 hits are lighter and faster but doesn't have the weight and authority of the clears.

Even though its listed as 40mm in diameter, the focal drivers can't really be directly compared to the typical dynamic drivers as the structure is completely different. If I had to estimate, the magnet in the clear has to be at least 10x more powerful than any typical dynamic driver.

I saw those on sale a few times a few years ago, always regretted not buying them.

It was external noise, could have been some noise in the system as well. It could also be the area I was in at the time, it would pick up radio and cell signals through my sound system. It could also have been that the speakers I chose weren't all that great, only tested a couple in the past...

That was philimon, i believe he was experimenting with various ear cups. Does it lose any of the bass character in open form?
