Mine doesn't fall apart at high volume, I listen at vol level 50 on average. Maybe you have a defective unit.

Just got it today from Jaben Hong Kong, after a quick 10 min test, I can say the sound stage is definitely bigger than stock ak100, I am loving the low and mid. For me the ak100 is flat compared to this. I agree as Gavin said, definitely justified the price :D
