    Grado e Series

PS500, for me, have an abundance of mid bass. Didn't find it "fun" as some have stated. And bass extension is non-existent, unacceptable for a $600 headphone. I sold them after 100 hours or so, and to think i almost sold my 225s when the 500s first arrived. Alas, there are recordings the 500s...

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones

Must be variation in ears or source material, or Quality Control variables of the headphones .. but I'm about to return the P7s due to abundance of bass, mid-bass in particular. They're not neutral sounding to me whatsoever, from ipod or external amp, unless I'm playing a recording with a...

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones

Just got the P7s. Not liking the mid-bass hump much, just as I don't care much for it on my Grado PS500s. Got the P7s because I wanted a decent pair of closed-back cans. Compared to the PS500s, the P7s lack in the finesse of mids and highs along with what seems to be a 1K-2K spike that's an...

Will the Grado 225i's benefit from a headphone amp?

Is an amp a benefit? When I got my 225s a few years ago, I got a basic Total Airhead amp and after alot of back and forth with and without the amp, I found that the amp definitely smoothed out high-mids (notable harshness without the amp).    Type of amp? To my surprise, I haven't noticed...

Grado PS500 bass response (vs. Denon D2000)? Please advise

If starting with ps500s, add sub-bass and shave off some mid-bass, is that a rough approximation of the lcd-2's signature? Recognizing that the ps500s roll off quite a bit on the top end (esp for a grado). I wouldn't change much about the ps500's mids and highs, and I'd have to think twice about...

Anybody who says Grado's don't have enough bass is silly!

I have 225s and ps500s. Ps500s have plenty of bass above 30hz. But below 30Hz, the stuff of R&B, HipHop, and little else? Nothing. So few of my tracks are of those genres, I didn't notice it for a long time. But once I did -- once I heard my lowly Bose cans hammer out very satisfying sub-bass...

Grado PS500 bass response (vs. Denon D2000)? Please advise

Wanted to weigh in on PS500 and particularly bass performance. After reading reviews extensively, I purchased my PS500 headphones a few months ago. I've had 225s for years, and with the promise of more bass and less of the sometimes too-thick high-mids and highs of the 225s, figured the 500s...
