    Gustard DAC-X30

I had to make a stop after installing active rectifiers into the digital section & carefully compare with the reference (unmodified DAC). Dunno why, but something not right - very odd tonal balance & weak bass. Rolled back Digital Section to diodes one by one, the one on the right is improving...

I will give it a try in 30-40 days.

    Scam: craftineaudio.com aka Craftine Audio

The site offers plenty of high end used inventory wanted by lot of audiophiles, but... it's too good to be true. I was mesmerized by following offering of TAD CR1 MK2: The price looks kinda good, but not outstanding low. I've contacted them with request of additional pictures, soon enough...

Thank you, Sir. Ordered 116dB a week ago, and now ordered 119dB, going to have 3 versions of OCK-2S :)

Thank you, need to do series of experiments and measurements, probably GAN is sort of conflicting with something upstream. Unclear yet, anyway, I will find a use for 2 extra GANs if that's the case. Another odd part, with GANs installed to digital section - I hear some buzz noise from one of 4R7...

Replaced Digital Section diodes with Saligny GAN, the impact is dramatic indeed, but controversial. More liquidity, space lil bit opens up, less resolution, midrange are too much & vocals too forward, but lower bass is almost non existent. As a next step - replaced Analog Section diodes with...

    Gustard DAC-X30

Some parts has arrived, work in progress… All 5V digital pre-regulators replaced with Sparkos, noticeable improvement of space, mid resolution, smoothness. Still waiting for Saligny GAN bridges, hence 2.2uF MKP capacitors are hanging around diode bridges - this one rly easy to do and works...

Unrelated, SS7805 with small heatsink getting ~55°C hot, with OSCON at the input it runs around 44°C, no idea why. P.S. i do use external clock

    Gustard DAC-X30

Great summary! Thank you, Sir! Darker sound is exactly a reason why i keep FMs at LPF and I/V stages. Regarding SS7805 im surprised how the thing is sensetive to input/output capacitors. My plan: - swap rectifiers with 100euro Saligny GAN; - bypass all Pana FM with Vishay MKP; - bypass...

    Gustard DAC-X30

Im still waiting for some components, so far replaced LM7805 with sparkos SS7805, soldered connector to make A/B comparisons. The impact is kinda easy to notice, but agreed it's not a that dramatic, compare to the efforts, need to mention extra low ESR/ESL OSCON before SS7805 works like charm -...

Some nice Polypropylene i.e. Amtrans instead of Wima should be kinda beneficial and still small.

Have you already considered Wima replacement? Wondering which one out there should go out first, what do you think? I/V or LPF?

Or the cable & something else like noise cause worse sound even with better external clocking
