Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Yeah, this is the headset in the picture I posted. It's the 1% along with the few high caliber audio-brands-went-gaming, and you immediately hear the difference in a crowded Discord channel. Gaming brands though, such as Razer, Asus and SteelSeries to name a few, get nowhere near the performance...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

It's low. At office it were the Shure SE846, which are super sensitive, yeah. Coming back home though, Hel had no problem blasting an HD 650 to the moon on low gain as well, and will easily explode 99% of gaming headsets out there. The thing is, the noise floor is low to non-existent on low...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Got a Hel today too. Had only a quick listen at the office, but my first impression is that it's too loud. Gotta set the source to about 10% if you wanna spin that wheel. Channels are very balanced though and the quality is good (as expected).

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I ordered a Schiit coaster and got 4 - that's standard, right? I know it's stupid to think you'd pay $12 for a coaster, but I bought dumber stuff. Also, the "cosmetically flawed" left-leaning volume knob I had on the B-stock Fulla 2 was fixed by nudging it back to the right. Some lazy customers...

The Koss ESP950 thread (ESP owners, please contribute! :)

Picked one up as well. Very curious about sound coming from electrostatic headphones. Massdrop taking cash in advance isn't a new thing, by the way, and I haven't had any problems with it yet.

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

Regarding line-in (based on the SHA900): 1. Menu >> Utilities >> Factory reset. 2. Menu >> Disable charging >> Yes (for the sake of the test). 3. Menu >> Audio >> Output gain >> Low (assuming it has the feature). 4. Menu >> Audio >> Input pad >> -20 dB (not present with USB-in). If it still...

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

AFAIK there aren't any electrostats with cables you can replace, but not long ago there weren't any electrostatic IEMs either (except those weird Stax). I actually cancelled because the expected wait time was 4 months (cancelled after 2 and a half), then thought better of it. 3 grand is 3 grand...

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

Solarium's impressions really make me think whether I did the right thing, passing on the KSE1500 for not having a detachable cable (having spent $2k on SE846+SHA900, I might as well could have...). Haven't been following the thread since I cancelled the order - are there any news on an KSE1500...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

That'll teach us not to pirate music (instead of calling artists and their labels a bunch f**s, right?)!

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD

Actually searched for it on ages and couldn't find it. Thanks!

Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD

Ahhh, what another fun experience I just had with the M1. Firstly, as transport, the claims of the M1 sounding like "hot garbage" are apparently not far from truth. It clips through some albums, some of which heavily, and it appears the sound goes through the DAC, otherwise I can't explain why...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I'm not a fan of the brand when it comes to pairing with Shure earphones. The few I tried had hiss (other than the E12A) and were either muddy or screechy. I've also noticed over time that review scores of their products are gradually declining. All of that is in regard to sound. In terms of...

Any way of controlling the volume when using the M1 as transport?
