Ended up with the LG QuadBeats. Much more balanced sound. Slightly V shaped sound but definitely less muddy compared to the Brainwavz M5 and R1s. Microphonics are pretty annoying

I tried an iPod Touch 4 and that was much better SQ wise - no hiss. I wouldn't think the chips in the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4 would be different... so maybe I just got a bad iPhone 4

RX900 for me. And I've actually got A700s to compare them against, and also AD700s. Very similar soundstage, but much less bass and overall detail for me

The fact that its a clip-on makes it difficult for it to be closed anyway - they sit on the ear and theres not enough pressure to form a seal that would completely isolate 

They're not closed, but they don't leak as much as the 75s. Better sounding too
