NuForce HDP (DAC only) vs. Little Dot DAC-I for Little Dot MK IV Amplifier

Hi guys,   I recently bought a Little Dot DAC-I + Little Dot MK IV Amp, but the DAC-I was completely broken.   Given all the rave about the NuForce HDP's DAC function (only talking about DAC/RCA output here as a preamp), how does it compare to the Little Dot DAC-I? Am I missing out on...

Need help! Tried 5 computers and 3 input sources and still can't get a (almost) new Little Dot DAC-I to work?!

Hey guys, I just received both a Little Dot MK IV SE (great sounding with my HD800's) and a Little Dot DAC-I. The DAC-I was recognized by my macbook air the first time I plugged it in (USB), and only the first time. Now no matter what input I try -- USB, Toslinkm, RCA, my MBA won't...

Etymotic ER-4PT or Klipsch Image X10i

Well, I cant comment on the 4R's -- the only westones I've had was the UM2-RC.. for some reason my ears fit much better with shure's than westones.   Update -- I got my authentic IE80 yesterday -- It definitely is a love it or hate it type of IEM. Isolation isn't great with stock tips, but...

Driving a Senn HD800 with a Nuforce HDP and a CEntrance DacPort

any other opinions? I'm find that the sound off of my Centrance DacPort is too bright... any cheap tube amplifiers to drive the HD800?   Also, besides the dacport, what else is USB powered, 1/4" terminated, and can drive a HD800? Also interested in desktop amps (I currently have the NuForce...

Etymotic ER-4PT or Klipsch Image X10i

Well there's always the classic UE TF10 (if you have medium to large ears), which I actually think is much better than the UE900. The UE900 has some really harsh sibilance that I can't listen to, while the TF10s are among the best highs I've heard (and I own an HD800 and Ultrasone ED 8)...

    Recommendations for closed headphones

ATH-w1000x is a good value for your money, even though I just got rid of mine to fund other purchases. Also they look really slick with their wooden finish. Subbass is present and bass extension is pretty decent. Worked pretty well with my DACPort..

Etymotic ER-4PT or Klipsch Image X10i

In terms of isolation, you wont find anything better than Etymotics. In terms of comfort, many have argued that klipsch tips are really comfy.   I've read somewhere that the ER4 is just a USA handmade, custom tuned HF5 -- they use the same housing and drivers, that is. Not sure if this is...

    Recommendations for closed headphones

a used T5p on headfi is about 1/2 the price of a new TH900, just saying -- Of course I'm biased b/c I've had the T1 and T5p, and honestly I've liked the T5p a LOT better than the T1. The bass was crisper and punchy, and the soundstage felt wider, which is weird cuz the T1 is semi-open and the...

    Best all-arounders under/around $550

+1 on the ATH-w1000x. Very good subbass and closed, and the finish is gorgeous. pretty comfortable too, but definitely not portable. Doesn't require an amp, but I've used it with my CEntrance DACPort and have gotten good results (ironic that i happened to sell mine today to fund other stuff)  ...

    2.1 Speaker Set-Up

Where's the love for the (classic) Harman/Kardon soundsticks III? Might be $10 overbudget but worth it. I used to have them, but since ":upgraded" to 2.0 systems (GLA-55, MM-1), but those are more expensive. The (now rare) Antec Soundscience *might* be under $150, if you can find one.  ...

    Recommendation for Allrounded Noise-Cancelling Headphones

AKG K480NC --- $190 on amazon right now. I've had the K840 and K490 and for some reason I keep going back to the 480's. Has a more natural sound signature, while the 490's tone seems off balance. AKG's in general are pretty well-rounded if you're looking for that (I just picked up a pair of...

Senn HD800, Beyer T1, Ultrasone Ed8 with Whiplash TWag v2

Quote:   You'd think for $1500 (recent price drop on the fostex) they'd make a decent stock cable. Clearly wasn't the case with the ultrasones >.<   I guess only the HD800 has that going for it, the stock cable is excellent (albeit $300 to replace)

Keep damaging my earphones due to accidents any way to make earphones more robust?

try a shure se215 and see if you like it. it's only $99 and imo is one of the best values on the market. and it has a replaceable cable.
