I would say they go as low in a solid fashion (which is the strong suit of the 846). They are articulate without being overly dry however some say they are a bit dark. I disagree with that and say they are similar to the 846.

They drove fine form a Motorola X Pure off the analog port and still had plenty of bass. However, as will all headphones, they sound better with some amplification but this is more of a knock on phone sources not the headphones themselves.

The only knock I have against them is that the grooves machined in them to protect the drivers sometimes hit the ridges of my ears which can hurt after a bit. But if I take time and align them it's good. 

To my ears, I think these sound fantastic. I can't really say I'm missing much. I would definitely tell people to add these to their short list in this price category.
