The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

I use my 712's with onboard and it sounds nearly the same as my HD800's did out of my Lyr.        Onboard has come miles and miles in the last few years, but people still don't give it credit.   Motherboard for reference:   MSI z97 M Power

The 250 ohm model is only like 3DB quieter than the 32 ohm if they're both given the same amount of power.   The problem with the DT series is they have somewhat low sensitivity, not because of the high impedance. ( 96 db / mw )   While the HD600 & 650 have higher sensitivity, something...

Are the AKG K550 pads similar to the AKG k712?   I saw you can put Audeze pads on the k550, and I'd really love to try that on my k712.

Audiophiles are bassheads in some degree?

Anyone that says HD800 are bass light are deaf or something. I had them for a while and they're definitely not bass light. They may not be crazy bass cannons, but the entire FR of bass is there, and definitely present, it definitely presents a rumble here and there and some kick when it's needed.

Would Audeze pads fit on the k712?

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

I think it varies from device to device, some laptops and PC's have very good onboard sound, and some have extremely poor onboard sound. Going from my onboard on my PC to my schiit Lyr and separate dac with my hd800s there's almost no difference at all, but going from my moms PC's sound to my...

A buddy of mine did this math a while back for the hd800 off the o2: Data from Inner Fidelity: Sensitivity: 102.3 db/Vrms Lowest impedance: 345 Ω (No, I'm not willing to round down 45 Ω like Sennheiser lolz) 110db: 16.2 mw 2.4v 115db: 51.3mw 4.3v 120db: 162.2mw 7.67v Lolz. You can drive...

IMHO at this level of "fidelty" changes are usually minor and never substantial unless the thing you're switching from has some issues of some sort.

    Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers

Anyone have any recommendations for tubes for the HD800? I don't find them bright at all, so no worries about needing to tone down the treble.   Budget sub 100$ please, don't have much to spend now that I bought hd800's

I bought a pair used, and they definitely need a new set of pads, they're still insanely comfortable though.   Serial # is 15xxx so I think they're around 2 years old?

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

Honestly I only lost a small amount of performance switching from the 3930k + two 780's to what I have now, the 290x overclocks to around 1200mhz and I still get well over 60 FPS at 1440p in the games I play, so it's totally cool with me!   I reckon it's about 10-15% faster than one of...

The SSD is actually in the 5.25 bay because I was to lazy to take out my motherboard to put it back there lol.     The PSU is leftover from my SLI 780 + 3930k custom loop build, I just can't part with it because it's amazing.   The back of the unit has a small switch that turns the...
