It depends on the bluetooth profile you're using. For instance when the player and the headphone both use aptX HD, you can use it with 24bit 48 kHz files.

I always use the Max connected with external power. I remove the external power after closing the Max (pushing Power-of buton) but I'm not always waiting until it's totally closed. Can this be the cause of it?
