I just upgraded my DAC from Mytek Liberty to a Topping D90 MQA. There was a hidden setup menu to disable preamp and BT, asio buffer 2048, ROON endpoint advanced/disable MQA core decoder. But all things done, this is one sweet DAC. The soundstage opened up and is more enveloping than ever...

I listened to these in the shop against Sony and I do enjoy these more. But what does B&W say about these issues. FW or HW solvable?

I concur. The DAC is absolutely vital in this setup! I run the Mytek Liberty DAC with HDPLEX 200W silverwound PSU. Silver DC cable from MCRUK. Ifi USB and DC purifiers. Furutech DIY powercables. Computer (Evga titan 1600W) has the Femto USB card from jcat. Running from HDPlex psu as well.

I think you are definately looking in the right direction. The traits you mention are there in spades. If possible have 2-3 listening sessions with Jade-II and the best DAC you can find in the shop. After that let your ears decide. For me it was a bit of a "struggle" since I havent listened to...

MQA HW decode > MQA SW decode. It happens on every well designed full MQA DAC, the music just releases from the transducers and float. Vibrancy in the air. In my speaker systems I run the Meridian 210 streamer and the difference is vast letting SW decode (Tidal client/ROON) or HW like the 210...

Interesting, while a few are dismissive of the jade ii amp, it seems to somewhat be a pretty solid performer for the outlay anyways. In that case I might just put in a spare SR Blue 1.6A fuse (230V) and call it a day.

I'm considering the jade ii system, lots of opinions on the amplifier. if you compare this with other 1200$ amplifiers, is there someone that really is irrefutably a better buy? Looking at the used market locally I see a Stax SRM-006tS would this be a better fit than the hifiman jade ii energizer?
