Unfortunately, I don't know what they were plugged into. As I said, the volume is ok. I just thought that a better amp would further increase sound quality. Not that it's bad now, those headphones are still better than my last ones. :)

Hello.   I own a pair of DT880 and I'm currently using them together with SoundBlaster Z sound card (with a dedicated headphone amp built in). I was wondering if a dedicated AMP, like Fiio E09k for example would have a positive impact on sound quality, or would it make no difference?  Thanks.

Hey all.   I'm looking to get those headphones, and pair them up with my Soundblaster Z. Is this combination a good choice for gaming and music (jazz, fusion and rock mostly)? Also, would HD598 be a noticeable improvement over Superlux 668B?
