on that point, the build of some of their phones could be improved -- where the cable connected to the earbud on my e500s frayed and the copper became exposed after only a few months...

For what it's worth, the SRH440 is pretty darn solid -- did a test of them before splurging on the 840 a while back, but they're good.

It's a shame that Amazon no longer gives price-matches if it lowers its price after you order: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468502   I recall that used to be the case for at least 14 days...

For what it's worth, I picked up a pair yesterday and so far love them. Light, ridiculously comfortable. For a pair of closed cans, they have a quite forward sound which I like, but not fatiguing (yet). In comparing it to my Shure SRH840, there no comparison in terms of precision and comfort...

I'm a huge fan of my 530's, but would have easily gone with the UM2s if I wanted something more "fun" and bassy -- a bit overpowering, though imho. The 530's are pretty neutral and good for a variety of music. Btw, I was looking for another pair for my fiancee, and w/o PTH and with warranty...

I just ordered the 595's off Amazon, and got the 50 ohm version. They sell them for $199, which is on the lower end of prices online. Burning them in as we speak, but initial impressions are very positive. Amazingly comfortable...
