newbie wondering about the fiio e17 (or other reccmendations)

Quote:   Just a heads up: It doesn't work with all Android 4.1/4.2 phones, only phones which have been tweaked by the manufacturer or user to support it. My Galaxy Nexus, for example, doesn't have support on 4.1 or 4.2, and doesn't seem to be gaining support for it within its lifetime.

    headphone burn in

Quote: Yeah... I wouldn't use those headphones to mix or master anything, because you're just gonna get home and have to do even more editing. You can polish poo all you want, but you're still gonna end up with a pile of sh%!   If you want a pretty good travel setup, look into an...

    Just ordered Audio Technica ATH-M50's

If it's an onboard soundcard, it's not uncommon for the headphone jack to have light static and mechanical-electric sounds, as they aren't shielded from what goes on in the computer, and it's actually tied to the CPU, rather than being separate, like a sound card is. If you have a discrete sound...

Emu 0404 to AudioEngine 5 - TRS to RCA - No Sound?

I think the RCA plugs in the back are RCA outs to a sub, not RCA inputs.   At least that's what I see when I look at the pictures on the web...   Edit: And yeah, Cankin's right, if your A5's do accept RCA in.

nuForce uDAC 2 - Will it get rid of the static coming from my computer?

Is this a desktop or a laptop? I'm thinking it's EMI from your CPU getting into the sound signal as it's decoding your FLAC files, which would explain the extra snap crackle and pop while playing FLACs. Getting an external DAC would benefit you greatly, if that's the case.   I can vouch for...

Best Headphones for wearing while away from home?

I don't think anybody on this forum would ever recommend you beats, lol. Do you need closed back headphones? If you do, m50's fit the bill perfectly. They swivel 90 degrees, so they don't get in your way on your neck, have half decent isolation, and pretty good sound quality. It may be a little...

Looking to buy first pair of cans, suggestions?

Look into Koss PortaPro's. They have a bit of a cult following on this forum, and are infinitely moddable to your liking. They can scale very well with a good amp, and beat pretty much everything, up to the sr60's, or maybe even the sr80's. Plus, they're on the lower end of your budget, and are...

    K701 thread

Do it! They're an awesome set of cans!   Bit uncomfortable on the top of your head, though. Speaking of which, has anybody figured out a way to make those bumps softer? It's starting to get better, but it still starts to hurt after a while if I'm doing a long listening session.

Very Basic Audiofile Questions Please GIve Feedback!

My issue wasn't with the way it organized my music in terms of a folder structure or in the program itself. It was with the way it handled deleted files-I believe I accidentally checked something in the settings that allowed it to automatically delete actual files rather than just removing them...

MAC: Audio MIDI Setup for 24-bit 96/192KHz files

I believe the program has ultimate control over sample rate conversions in a mac. Unless you open a program, then go and change the audio midi settings, the output will be whatever the audio file is recorded at. What I do is set the audio at the maximum (24/96 for me) in audio midi setup, open...

How to use my HD 598 for gaming?

Don't buy it if they try to sell you on "high quality optical cables" or something. Light is light, and it's a digital signal. Unless you're running 50 feet of cable, any old optical cable will do.

    ath-m50 really underwhelming bass?

Give it some time to burn in, and you may end up liking it. I may end up picking up one of the new m50's to see if they're any better than they were before.   I'm sure they'll be VERY bassy compared to my k701's, though lol.
