Seems like what most wanted was a cheap HD800S. Instead we got a different headphone. Better/worse than HD800S? Subjective. Personally I don't know which I would prefer. But I suspect it is the HD 8XX - which I have been enjoying even compared to STAX and some other stuff.

And 700 is even easier. Look for an open box pair on eBay :) Elex is probably a great bet too, and cheaper. I dont doubt that 800S might be better, but 8XX is certainly good as well. Maybe you should look into the elex until you can audition 8– series

Did a frequency sweep with a friend earlier. Audibly speaking (from what we could hear), there was definitely no significant dip at 2khz on my unit. 10khz dip was noticeable for sure.
