    I do the same thing, but I think there is no doubt that at high gain the sound has more background noise and the instruments become a bit muddy.

    sometimes the clear mg if I connect them to the dac and ampl sounds good but if I connect it directly to my ibasso dx220 DAP it seems to sound better.

    the 887 works very well with hifiman arya, in my opinion it is a slightly underrated amplifier.

    Sometimes I have the impression that despite my excellent quality DACs, amplifiers and connection cables, listening to headphones directly on the DX220 is more pleasant and musical.

    yesterday I used an OCC 7n cable which is excellent for the mg, it makes it cleaner and less noisy, I liked the silver cable less because it was less fun.

    I really like my mg with the monolith 887 thx, the 887 increases the stage at the clear which is a little narrow and makes it pleasantly clean and not so aggressive.
