Review by 'CHxJC' on item 'Etymotic ER3XR'
Introduction This is my first ever IEM review be nice >.< I've been using the RHA MA750i as a daily portable IEM for over 3 years and is due for an upgrade. I bought this unit for myself intended for portable everyday use and drumming. After years of exploring my IEM tastes I *think* I've...- CHxJC

FLC Technology FLC8 and FLC8s Impressions Thread
Good to know! It's just a bit wierd hearing popping noises on a $300 IEM when my cheaper RHA doesn't.- CHxJC

FLC Technology FLC8 and FLC8s Impressions Thread
Hi, So I finally tried out the red ULF filter, and I have to say I really love the low end rumble. However, the lack of the vent hole due to the complete seal from the red filter now causes significant driver flex. The DD pops whenever I'm trying to put my FLCs on, and whenever I adjust them...- CHxJC

FiiO Q5, Flagship DAC/Amp, an Dual DAC, USB/Optical/Coaxial/Line in, share the same amp module with X7.
How does the default AMP module work with low impedence IEMs? I'm planning on getting the Q5 for the FLC 8s (11 Ω) and Oriveti New Primacy (8 Ω). I'm worried that the background noise may be too high (as the recommended is 16 ohms+) and the output impedence being too high (<1.4Ω 3.5mm/2Ω...- CHxJC

Review by 'CHxJC' on item 'Burson Audio Supreme Sound Opamp V5'
Disclaimer: The following review are my impressions, and may not be what you experience. My ears are wierd. In addition, the Burson V5 OP-amp is provided for free by Charles from SS-audio (Burson Audio) in exchange for an honest review. My original setup was simple: Laptop -> FiiO Q1 -> HD598...- CHxJC

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
That's the fun of tube amps, there is no set rule for which is better. I believe many said 6HM5 are great with the grados.- CHxJC

Will a Sound Blaster Z suffice as a DAC? And can be used with amp?
What I would do is get a Schiit stack, Objective 2 DAC+AMP or really any well recommended DAC and AMPs that fit your price point and enjoy. When playing games need surround sound, either do it by software/encode with sound card if possible, or plug in cables from the sound card into the amp and...- CHxJC

IEM Choice for Heavy Metal and Classical
My brother owns the RHA T20. While I do not like headphones that are not neutral, it sounded very good for exciting music such as heavy metal and rock. The bass is very clean and punchy, and didn't bleed into the mids like my RHA MA750i. It also has a wider soundstage. However, it performed...- CHxJC

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
How do the Sylvania version compare to the El's? If they sound similar I might just get one of those and return my EI 6HM5. I can literally hear the ringing when volume exceeds a certain amount in songs (and it doesn't need to be loud). Whenever the piano has a heavy note it rings once, and gets...- CHxJC

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
My 6HM5 tubes just arrived, and it's not looking too good already. First, one of the tubes do not have the "flare up" glow when turned on. However, it does work so I'm not sure whether it's something I should be worried about. The other one that flares up however sounds slightly sharper in...- CHxJC

Does the V5i make a big difference? I always wanted to change my OP-amp, but the price and shipping makes it hard for me to justify the upgrade.- CHxJC

I think the different combinations of setups also contribute to the factor of how each tube sounds to us. The Voskhods sound way smoother, with silky low mids making it sound very warm. While the Mullards do have a stronger mid-high bass, the treble clarity and detail on the M8161 in turn makes...- CHxJC

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
In my experience tubes like the Voskhod 6ZH1P-EV make it very "tubey", aka warm/smooth/musical but also stay on the neutral side, making it an amazing starter tube. After that, it all depends on your taste. I went back to the Mullard M8161/CV4015 after a month with the Voskhods as these are much...- CHxJC

NP! I wouldn't recommend Amazon, as they don't have much of a selection (mostly American brands). I do know that the JAN 5654W are available on Amazon for an acceptable price for a matched pair. I'd recommend finding a reputable tube seller for rare tubes, or wandering around ebay for more...- CHxJC
