Sony CD3000 Thread
I'm loving these headphones. Traded them with svyr a little while ago. Recabled them for balanced, which was a bitch of a job, but completely worth it - they hands down destroy my balanced HD650's in my opinion. Great bass slam, forward, open, just incredible air between all instruments and...- chum_2000_uk

Re-terminating balanced AKG K702's with Hirose HR10A-7P-6P connector for iBasso.
I do have a DMM, but in order to check the continuity I would have had to have exposed the wire elsewhere back towards the drivers. Probably the only way of doing that would have been to take the grilles off, which I've heard can be a bit awkward on the K702's, so I didn't want to risk damaging...- chum_2000_uk

Re-terminating balanced AKG K702's with Hirose HR10A-7P-6P connector for iBasso.
Yeah I agree tbh Pars. And I have to confirm that the Hirose connector was an absolute POS to work with. Whoever designed that connector was an idiot, particularly the way it assembles and disassembles - basically you have to screw the centre of the connector (the part with the male pin...- chum_2000_uk

Re-terminating balanced AKG K702's with Hirose HR10A-7P-6P connector for iBasso.
Hey Pars, thanks for the reply! It's not really my choice, the Hirose receptacle is what is on the guy's balanced amp, and I'm just doing a quick connector swap for him for basically not much more than the cost of the connector I've ordered on his behalf. If I factor in my time and fuel...- chum_2000_uk

Re-terminating balanced AKG K702's with Hirose HR10A-7P-6P connector for iBasso.
Hi guys, Just a quick question; I am going to re-terminate my balanced AKG's for a fellow head-fier who is buying them off me. Instead of the 4-Pin XLR that is on there now, he needs a Hirose 6 pin connector on there. On the iBasso website it has a pinout diagram: ...- chum_2000_uk

Sony CD3000 retermination to 4 pin XLR
Quote: Ok, yep that is no problem. Do I just discard the ground wire and have L- L+ R- R+ coming off each driver to the 4 pin XLR jack yeah?- chum_2000_uk

Sony CD3000 retermination to 4 pin XLR
Hi guys, sorry if this has already been discussed, but I really can't find any info on this. Basically I want to reterminate my Sony CD3000s to 4 pin XLR. I've done this on my HD650s already, but obviously is was a lot easier as there were 4 conductors in the stock cable anyway, so...- chum_2000_uk

Buffalo II DAC problems - Voltage sag between Placid BP and IVY
Hi John, for the placid I'm using the 15VA Avel Lindberg that TP sell for the kits. I did quickly measure the AC from the both secondaries after first connecting the transformer to the IEC inlet just to make sure it was working correctly - I forget what the actual measurement was. I'll...- chum_2000_uk

So you are saying it would likely drive HD650's better than AKG K702's? Quote:- chum_2000_uk

Buffalo II DAC problems - Voltage sag between Placid BP and IVY
Umm... it is the heatsink attached to QP1, having looked at the schematic I assume it is a pass rather than a shunt? QN1 is between Out 1 and 2 (i.e. V+ and GND), making it a shunt correct? My reasoning may be all wrong with this, so please correct me if I'm wrong? Assuming it is a pass...- chum_2000_uk
