Best speaker for Sony Walkman NW-WM1A
Was wondering if I could get some speaker recommendations for the Sony NW-WM1A from you all. I'm looking for a high-end desk/shelf speaker specifically. I've yet to connect this to anything other than a pair of headphones. I know the deceive has Bluetooth pairing but can it also be connected to...- chiron7

I have the brightness turned down to the minimum, balanced output on high gain with the bass, minds, and treble each turned up to 7 in the Tone Control (no other sound settings are being used) and with this setup I'm getting 15-20 hours roughly.- chiron7

I highly recommend the Moondrop Starfields. At a little over $100, I find them to be amazing IEMs that honestly sound better than the pairs of Kennerton and Denon headphones that I tried and they work excellent with the Sony, at least to my ears.- chiron7

Are you using the silver-plated or copper LQI cables? Currently on the hunt for a balanced set.- chiron7

Highly recommend the Fat Bear case which protected by 1A from a near 5 foot drop today (stupid me ). Hopefully no insides were damaged.- chiron7

I had the Denon D9200 and can tell you I did not like them with the WM1A, so much so I sold them fairly quickly (unfortunately at a small l loss). They sounded distant and almost muffled with higher frequencies sounding very suppressed. Balanced cable did help a little but not by much. The...- chiron7

An odd question but assuming that I do nothing with the sound features, does turning Direct Sound off and on do anything? If all sound settings are at 0 or off, is that the same as having Direct Sound on even though it's toggled off?- chiron7

This is interesting as I hear a bit more clarity when I toggle the Dynamic Normalizer. It also sounds like a boost, not unlike turning up the bass, mid, treble in the Tone Control. Tweaking the EQ, or Tone Control, or the Dynamic Normalizer produces a more clear sound to my ears than Direct...- chiron7

I originally had is set on Direct Sound but I've found that at least having the Dynamic Normalizer on helped produce a sound my ears like better. Still tweaking other settings to see if I like any.- chiron7

Brightness is set to 1 which is actually perfect but direct is off.- chiron7

Got it, thank you. Currently running only the Dynamic Normalizer but have been fiddling around with the Tone Control and if dial them up, there is certainly a perceived boost, almost like an additional gain and I'm already running High Gain.- chiron7
