Well, I'm in line for the CTH, so I guess I'll find out for myself.

Massdrop x Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid Amp (CTH) - Dropping Monday

Anyone try this with Focal Elears? From the impressions in this thread seems like this would be a good pairing. Source will be a Bifrost Multibit.

    New Beyer DT1350

My 1350s were waiting at more door when I got home Thursday night.  Right out of the box, I thought they sounded pretty harsh and overly bright.  So, they've been burning-in since then.  Now they've got about 60 hours on them and there is a remarkable improvement.  Right now I'm listening to...

Beyer DT1350 vs. Senn HD25-1 II

Thanks for the review.  A good read and very useful!  Sounds like the DT 1350 will be right up my alley - glad I ordered a pair on Amazon today!  I've been using the ATH-ESW9 as my portable cans and, while I really like it and its "tubey" sound, the isolation leaves a lot to be desired.  It...

@strawBoss - don't you mean "no Beyer remorse"?

Sennheiser HD 25-1 ii and beyerdynamic DT 1350 - Head-Fi TV, Episode 004

Hate to tell y'all, but I just ordered the last DT1350 on Amazon.  Looks like my ATH-ESW9 may soon be retired.

    La Figaro 339

I am enjoying the 339 /  T1 combo.  The only basis for comparison I have is the 339 / Pro 900 combo and, I can tell you, there is no comparison.  The T1's are in a different class altogether than the Pro 900's.  The only area that even invites comparison is the bass (something the Pro 900's are...

    La Figaro 339

Beyerdynamic T1's arrive tomorrow! Can't wait to hear them with the 339. This stuff really is quite addicting.

    La Figaro 339

The T1's are a little more than I wanted to spend, but....  They are awfully tempting and at some point in the future I will probably end up upgrading to something in that ballpark.  So, I could rationalize buying them now as actually saving me money by avoiding the cost of incremental...

    La Figaro 339

Ok, so having fried my Pro 900s with the arced tube, I'm now in the market for a full sized set of open cans to replace them.  I primarily listen to jazz (mostly vocal), big band, and softer classic rock.  Think Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Harry Connick Jr., and that ilk.  I'm looking for a good...

Thanks. Lesson learned. My next purchase will be a tube tester.

    La Figaro 339

I probably got the terminology screwed up.  So here's a picture.  The 6AS7G replaced the big tubes in the middle and the Telefunken replaced the little tubes on the sides.  The Telefunken tubes required an adapter (which came with the amp), but others in this thread have used (and liked) them...

Skylab - Thanks so much for the reply.  I'm a noob at this (as I'm sure is painfully evident).  I take it this means I should replace the tube before it claims another headphone?  Last week was a bad week... Algorythm Solo and Stepdance stolen from my backpack, capped off by this.  The good news...

    La Figaro 339

So, I did some tube rolling and, apparently, I screwed up!  I replaced the 339's stock driver tubes with 6AS7Gs and the stock amp tubes with EF800s from Telefunken.  I turned the amp on with my Pro 900 headphones connected and the volume at around 10 o'clock.  One of the 6AS7Gs popped (or...
