I get that, but after all they both produce "sound".  If you compare the IE80s to AKG 712.. would the AKGs produce a better sound comparing to the iems? specially in terms of: soundstage, bass, treble and clarity.   

Guys, I have the in ears Sennheiser IE80 which I absolutely love due to their HUGE soundstage. Lately I've been thinking about getting the AKG K712 as its costs only 217 euros. Would it be a decent upgrade comparing to the IE80s which are my daily drivers?
