Im a noob, but i LOVE my 990 dt pro 250ohms.  $169 at BH photo last time i checked.  My friend has T1's and he was really impressed with the 990 pros.  he said it reminded him a lot of his T1s. 

My only problem now, is how do i break it to my wife that i bought yet another pair of headphones :-)  

I just got these brand new out of the box from B&H photo, no burn in.  every song i have tried just blows me away.  I went from Grado SR80 to denon AH-D600's.  I wanted something bright like my grados but with a lot more bass.  I loved the denons bass and comfort but sometimes the bass...

Grado was my first step into quality headphones, and they will always be special to me -- i however left grado because i prefer an "over the ear" design in the sub $300 region.    I would also like a bit more bass too, I would agree that they need some new models / designs.

ive fiddled with software EQs a lot, and it seems like the entire sound quality is diminished when i do so even though i am able to fix one part of the frequency the overall affect is generally negative.

I have these headphones, they sound great for their price.  My complaints are: my ears get hot/sweaty wearing them more then a couple songs and if i move my head i can hear the headband creak or flex as it adjusts

most comfortable headphones ever are sony MDR-1R.  i would gladly wear them without even listening to music  :-)    They arent my taste for sound though.  I like a lot more bass.     i suppose id also vote for A900X, they were just on sale for $128, hard to beat that price.
