ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
I really am enjoying these so much. They do so much of what I want so well. They're smooth yet spectacularly detailed across the frequencies, have an enveloping soundstage you can lose yourself in, easily enough bass when needed without any hint of colouration or it affecting the mids.- Brooding Sonata

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
I got that info from Dethonray's website, so it should be correct; the DTR1+ is mentioned in reviews as being very powerful, so your answer doesn't surprise me, but good to confirm, thank you.- Brooding Sonata

Good to know, thank you. Are you able to make heads or tails out of the Dethonray's power figures?- Brooding Sonata

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Thanks for the input on the models. Technical question: How well would my sources drive the various planar magnetics? I've put the statistics below for convenience, as best I could. I don't understand why the Dethonray's is apparently in volts and the EHP-O2D is in mW, but hopefully this is the...- Brooding Sonata

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Makes sense. Sounds to me like the Edition XS is less "hot" in the treble than the Arya Organics and HE1000 variants which, combined with the much lower price, might make them a good way to dip my toes into the HiFiMan planar magnetic waters. Is that fair?- Brooding Sonata

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
Sure, was just wondering if there was an advantage to replacing the whole cable, other than the physical issue of having an extra little bit in the chain. Any comments on which phones to get for my proggy needs? As I'm buying without audition, I am leaning towards the Edition XS, to taste the...- Brooding Sonata

Could really do with this thread's help on the below three points. 1. I'm new to over-ear phones (I only own Shure 1540) and particularly planar magnetics. How are the Arya Organics for prog rock? On paper they sound like they might be great, thanks to their detail level and dynamism, with the...- Brooding Sonata

Please give me a recommendation
I need to find a pair of headphones to ask my wife for for Christmas. I've been doing a bunch of reading but it's quite overwhelming with no real experience (have previously focused more on IEMs). I won't have time to try before Christmas, so needs to be something that's a relatively safe bet...- Brooding Sonata

Dethonray Dtr1 Prelude high resolution player
Hi all. Thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these, but had a couple of questions: 1. It appears the player needs the memory card to be exfat format for playing music, but for firmware updates it needs to be fat32. Is that correct? Sounds a bit incvonenient if so 2. How well would this...- Brooding Sonata

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
I bought the Prestige LTD a while back and said I'd post my thoughts. It's taken a lot longer than I meant, but I thought I'd share my thoughts after a couple of months ownership, including two transatlantic flights. I am pairing them with an iBasso 320 and FLAC source files. I should start by...- Brooding Sonata

I too just went to Elise Audio. Tested the Monarch mk3 and Prestige Ltd. Liked both, but came home with the Prestige Ltd. Will post some thoughts after a few days, but so far I'm loving them very much.- Brooding Sonata

Those who are big fans of the Prestige Ltd, could you please comment: 1. What music do you find them good for 2. What kind of sound signature do you generally like in your IEMs? Are you treble sensitive? Into detail? Bass?- Brooding Sonata

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
Thanks for the comments re Prestige Ltd vers mk3s. Auditioning is hard, but I will see if I can make it happen. On paper, based on reviews, it sounds like the Prestige Ltd might be better for my proggy needs, but I suppose at that level either is going to sound great. As long as the sound isn't...- Brooding Sonata
