What portable DAC/Amp do you recommend? I was thinking of that Fiio E17k alpen 2. I also heard these could benefit from new cushions too. Man what a hassle I wonder if the investment is worth it for these headphones... So far I am very doubtful about its capabilities in the mids and high ranges.

I do use EQ all the time I don't have a DAC but perhaps I could end up buying one and if I still don't like the headphones then I'll trade them for another MDR XB1000s if there is anyone who is willing to do it here.
